For tourist, this place may not a great option to visit since it's not convenient to get here using public transport from Taichung and this resort is basically a castle-like building with nice garden and restaurant (pricey for so-so drinks and food). But for locals and those who live nearby and have car or motorcycle, going to this place is quite nice. Especially during autumn or winter when the weather isn't that hot and breezy. It's like a day away from the pollution in the city (especially for those who live in Taichung). Better visit earlier before lunch time since it won't be many people so you can enjoy the place for yourself, walking around the area and especially walking through the manmade small waterfall. Just use the 100 ntd voucher (that came with the 250 ntd entrance ticket) for the drink and you can have lunch in famous mushroom restaurants nearby after visiting this place.

Xinshe Castle is an absolute hidden gem in Taichung! The moment you arrive, you’re transported into a European fairytale setting with its stunning stone architecture, lush gardens, and peaceful atmosphere. Every corner is incredibly picturesque — perfect for taking beautiful photos. The landscaping is immaculate, and the views of the surrounding mountains make it even more magical. It's not overly crowded, so you can really take your time to stroll around and enjoy the serenity. Plus, the on-site café serves delicious treats and coffee, making it a perfect spot to relax. Whether you're a nature lover, a photography enthusiast, or just looking for a peaceful escape, Xinshe Castle is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

This place is extremely far from Taichung town. Suggest to get taxi up from Zhongxingling (get a fixed rate for this). Overall this place is sad. Charging an entrance fee of NT$250, it is totally not worth it. You get to walk around the castles being bitten by bugs and mosquitoes. There’s nothing in the gift shop, seems to be random things obtained from some market around. You get to redeem NT$100 on your food and drinks, but there only one place to do so (the pamphlet indicated there’s another place for us to sit and eat but it wasn’t open). If you have too much money and time to spare, then consider making this trip here. Otherwise, it’s truly disappointing.

*Most important* mosquitoes/insects repellent or you will be eaten alive. We rented a scooter and drove to the castle (long drive)... Face mask and jacket recommended, the entrance said some sort of resort 🤣 went in, you are at the right place. Bought entrance tickets for NTD 250 per person, which includes NTD 100 redeemable for food and drinks, and vouchers cannot be combined. It's a beautiful place although the day we came the water is so low you can even see the bottom but still it is beautiful. You can wander around everywhere, and if we understand the ticket lady right the only thing you are not allowed to do is fishing 🤣

Lovely visit if you've been stuck in Taichung city for a while. This is obviously not an authentic castle as Europeans might be familiar with but it is beautiful nonetheless. The landscaped gardens and surroundings are beautiful and there are a couple of walks up the hill behind to explore. I recommend taking your partner here on valentines day or your anniversary, roaming around under the cherry trees, grabbing a cool iced tea and then feeding the fish. Lots of photo opportunities and there are other attractions nearby if you have time, including a mushroom themed town.

Really beautiful place but the entry fee of 350 dollars is quite expensive. The lady on the gate wasn’t very nice either her manner is quite rude. The restaurant food didn’t try, it’s very expensive even with the 100nt voucher the give you we did spend it or order food. Good place to take wedding photos if you want to. Not easy to get there if you don’t have a car. Overall it was ok, one of the places once you see it once you don’t go back. Really suggest look at the entrance fee before planning to go there. There actually isn’t much to do here only walk around.
