Been wanting to visit this place for years, always hindered by something. Finally made it with one of my grandsons. Awesome experience, made better by the fact the boy enjoyed it as much as I did. There for over four hours and still didn't see everything, but was led on 2 1/2 tour by one of the most impressive young men I've ever met. If you ever visit this place, be sure Dillan is your guide! His tour was well worth the fee, which was only $3 for this old man. I would be happy to pay 10 times that much for such a treat. This is one of Georgia's parks and historical sites which are at the top of the chart among the whole U.S.! These sites charge a $5 parking fee and some of the historical sites charge a token admission fee. Neither are enough for what you get in return. I am so thankful there are folks who labor so intensely to preserve the heritage of our great country!! And if you don't agree, get your sorry butt out. We don't need you messing things up for those of us who love...

I almost became a casualty of the battlefield. There were several trails you could choose from and we choose the "Blue Trail" which was suppose to be a difficulty rating of medium to heart explosion. I guarantee a near death experience if you choose this one. The park staff got a good chuckle when we came in the door and slammed it as if it was the door to an aggravated lions den.

I gave it a good rating because of the amount of empathy you feel for those poor souls Confederate or Union ..rich or poor.. white or black sometimes family vs family fighting for their ideals rights and pride. The terrain was treacherous and at times deadly but they preservered and fought and many laid down their lives. I'm not saying either was right or wrong ... just a sheer waste. A waste that will always be in my mind and I thank them for that. For reminding me that they were better men than most today.

God bless American! Go and experience it for yourself ..stand where men laid it...

Little gem in Paulding County! We visited this State Historic Site for the first time; it was awesome! Even though it is a smaller historic site, it has lots to offer from a museum, old cabin, lots of trails, events throughout the whole year, friendly staff plus reenactments and demonstrations. There is also a nice facility to rent for the day, that entrance is located off Hwy 92. Ranger John was very knowledgeable and friendly. Currently they are only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9-5pm. Gate closes at 5pm. Ranger John did mention that they would be opening seven days a week soon for outdoor use only, meaning the visitor center would not be open those additional days. At that time an honor box system would be used. Currently, you must enter the visitor center to pay admission. The admission fee per person is based on age, see photo with that information. Definitely a nice place to visit. I look forward to making this my...

The trail access costs you only a parking fee, unless the museum is open (weekends/current state of the world) and then it is a per-person entry fee. It closes pretty early so be sure to check the time before you hit the trail. If you do get out there and find it getting dark, they have reflectors colored to match the trail. A night walk would be so neat! The museum is featuring 2 cannons at the time of this posting. The tiny dice on display was my favorite thing inside the museum. My other favorite thing was the face in the woods. It was quite exciting to be in precisely the right place at the right time to see it. This is likely my brain doing the matrix thing but it was absolutely cool. The soldiers stood this ground for 2 weeks, so who knows what's out there. (Confederate Gold?🤷‍♀️) This is NOT a known feature of Pickett Mill. I asked. The ranger nor the staff had ever seen or heard of the face in the woods.
