واحدة من المعالم السياحية لمدينة عدن ... تحكي إصرار وشجاعة الناس في ذلك الزمان في الدفاع عن أرضهم ضد المعتدين. طريق الصعود إلى القلعة منحدر قليلاً .. لذا يحبذ أن تلبس حذاء رياضي عند زيارتك .. ومدة الصعودة تتراوح من 7 إلى 10 دقائق حسب اللياقة .. ورسوم الدخول تكلف 100 ريال يمني فقط للفرد. وكما هو حال معظم المعالم التاريخية .. يشكو هذا الصرح الإهمال الشديد فترى الكتابات على الجدران والقمامة منتشرة .. وبعض الجدران المكسورة . وكنصيحة .. قم بجلب مياه معدنية باردة عند زيارتك لأنه لا يوجد بائعون متجولون في الأعلى .. ومن ثم إذا كنت تنوي زيارتها مع عائلتك .. فيستحسن زيارتها عند الغروب .. عندما تكون أشعة الشمس غير قوية.
It's one of the touristic landmarks in Aden, it defines the insistence and bravery of the people at that time. This Castle has served as an impregnable Wall against the invaders.
The way towards the castle is about 7 minutes walk as a Maximum for a young person, it's a little bit steep so it's better to wear a boot; but it's OK if you wearing a high heels shoes. You will have to pay ( 100 YER = 0.46 $ ) / person as an entrance fee.
When you walk up, you can enjoy the view of the Indian Ocean along the horizon and in the other side you can see the whole city of Crater district, it's a magnificent view and marvelous. But as usual; there is no care from the Government for such Historic locations, so you will find borders of the castle have fallen. You will find some old Canon with its head down, and there is so many writing on the walls. If you plan to sit up there for a while, make sure to bring cold water with you because there is no shops or street seller in this place, and as an additional energizer and rest, you can get some juice and biscuits to enjoy your stay. 🛑 Portuguese Albuquerque lost 2000 soldiers but couldn't capture aden port. Although it is referred to as a castle, it is less of a castle and more of a small port fortification. Much of the fort's history is unknown since there have been few archaeological studies done of the area. One theory is that construction was initiated around the year 1173 by a Turkish ruler of Aden named Prince Othman Al-Zangabili Al-Takriti. The fortress was proven during subsequent attacks against Aden by the Portuguese and especially the Turks in 1517. Although the ancient harbor began to silt up and the primary commercial center eventually moved to the other side of the Aden Peninsula, the British continued to develop and garrison the fortress after their arrival in 1839.
