Qalansiyah Cape & Beach
I am probably going to run out of expletives and superlatives describing this incredible place – Qalansiyah Cape and the nearby Qalansiyah Beach and the views of Detwah Lagoon. Limestone mountains give way to massive granite boulders and then absolutely stunning superfine powder white sand and then aquamarine and turquoise waters. This is an absolute paradise in the middle of the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea! Not a persona in sight, except for hundreds of yellow crabs scattering around the beach. Located behind the mountains separating this desolate beach from the nearby town of Qalansiyah, this place is truly magical in its colors and the infinity of its landscapes. The water color is downright insane – so blue and so translucent, like it was a dejavu of French Polynesia all over again.

Read moreA long stretch of fine white sand and turquoise waters is quite possibly the finest, most stunning beach I've seen in the world. Besides crab and a few fish, the waters are clear to the sand below. Bring shade, water, and sunscreen as the beach is a much longer of a walk from the road than it looks. We were able to pitch our tents on the sand dunes and listen to the roaring waves all night. We also found phosphorescence in the waves (end of October). Along with the brilliant stars, it's a tremendous place to...
Read moreMany renowned top travel reporters have stated that Qalansiya Beach IS the BEST beach in the world. That's a fact. Qalansiya Beach is undoubtedly clean, breathtaking, stunning, the finest beach I have ever seen; and unforgettable. Amazingly, as Socotra (and Yemen for that matter) is so alienated from the rest of the World, when we were there, there was not a single other person on the beach; incredibly, there was not a single footprint on the beach.
As for the water, personally I have never seen such alien, very pleasant, turquoise, extraordinary, spectacular sea water as around Qalansiya. And how can I forget the quietness of Qalansiya Beach - so quiet except for the sounds of water and the birds, especially the sea gulls. Talk of total...
