I would like to share with you my impressions of the meeting with Mr Kevin. Many of you did not have opportunity to meet him, but unfortunately we did. We were happy to receive the room overlooking the sea. But my husband got furious when he saw the pillow with yellow stain and the sheet with other white stains. Besides there where not towels. The covering of the floor almost caused me wyoming. After intervention we received towels and another pillow. We forgave the rest, I mean covering of the floor, and the bathroom with the shower leaking from all sides and the moldy floor in the bathroom. The second night I was awakened by something moving on my hand. I switched on the light, and I saw ants on my sheet. I went to the bathroom. There where plenty od ants on the floor. IT was enough for me. And now it is the point od my story. We went to the reception to ask for changing the room. We met Kevin there. After refusing to change the room, although we were ready to change the room on the other side od the hotel, Mr Kevin in a very aggresive tone first said to me:" I saw at once in your eyes what kind a guest you are." Then we listened to the whole history od the hotel, that it was built by his father, that he personally helped him with his own hands being only fourteen. That he studied psychology for 3 years in Italy and then return to Albania to help his father running the hotel. And thanks to him the hotel is now the biggest hotel in the neighbour .I really did not know what was I to do with all this knowledge. What is important, he is not the manager od the hotel but THE HOST and he lives on the fifth floor. IT is his home. He Simply got furious when I called him the manager, so I apologized but it did not calm his nerves. And now what Mr Kevin relplied us to our complaints. Ants, what ants I don't believe you. Do you have any photos? My husband went to the room for mobile, while Mr Kevin disapeared with cigarette. We had to wait 10 minuites before he returned, sat by the table in the bar drinking water and glancing at us. We approached him . "Sit" He said. After seeing our photos of ants , he accused us of bringing meals to the room, what was not true, besides we never eat in bathroom. So then he explained that the hotel location near sea and sand, might caused migration the ants to the hotel. So,why don't you use chemical to get rid of them.? Yellow stain on the pillow, was very easy to explain. Mr Kevin showed me on his mobile phone the photo of ACE, being sure it would satisfied me. So I answered, that he had two solutions, either change ACE to another chemical or simply teach the employees how to use it properly. As regards the covering on the floor, he was not interested in it. He was not interested in cleanliness of the rooms at all. "You have clima in your room, you have view on the sea, it is enough. You must remember that you are in Albania not in Europe" ( really?). We had some knowledge about Albania, that is why we really did not expect much. But cleanliness, kindness, smile should be present in each category of the hotel. The guests can forgive a lot If only they are treated like the guests in your home, Mr Kevin. You are not the hoteliere, you are rude, aggresive, arrogant, you have very high opinion on yourself. You treat your guests like enemies. In all self respecting hotels all employees should follow the rule : THE GUEST HAS ALWAYS RIGHT and should know how to solve the problem to satisfied the both sides. Good criticism can be...
Read moreInitially when we arrived I was genuinely happy with booking my partner made for us for a weekend getaway at the Vivas hotel. We were originally given a double room without sea view which my partner clearly requested upon booking! Got to room and it was 2 twin beds put together! Ladies were cleaning out the room opposite ours and looked larger and more spacious, they kindly let me and partner view it, to our surprise there was a lovely hot tub in the room and immediately we found the leverage we needed for reception team as we made our way downstairs to complain. We eventually upgraded to the hot tub room, was happy to pay the difference! Read the reviews before posting mine and it pretty much will mirror most people's experiences. To name a few improvements that hotel needs to remedy immediately; They don't charge towels daily, no phone or coffee/tea facilities in room, side lamps not working, no further additional lighting in room just main light, had to ask for a duvet 🤦, only 1 shower head which was not on proper working order, soap was never replaced nor was shower gel/shampoo sachets daily, placed the hot tub in corner of room without proper thought as water was splashing out onto tiles, wets half the room, no mop provided, no water absorbent Mats placed near hot tub, not enough plug points in room, no travelers house or pamphlets in room or food menus either. Other than that, we were ok with room, we spent alot of time out sight seeing, noise reduction in room was good, generally was clean, bathroom came with bedet.Water was always hot and great sea view from the upgraded room with double balcony. Will consider coming back with my children in future only because the price here compared to other destinations or suites in Albania relatively cheaper and you do get vague for money in comparison. Food generally in durres is really good and good prices too. Hotel was expensive for drinks and food, breakfast was what you would expect from foreign country, continental style. For us tea lovers don't forget to bring your own tea bags please, we suffered here without proper tea. Hotel Vivas, please do make the changes as I believe you have great potential to be one of the best in area. Thank you to the reception staff who were always helpful. 3.5/5...
Read moreThere is always room for improvement, but you can see that Albania is still a newcomer when it comes to tourism and if you realize this and come to this country open and empathetic, you will not be disappointed. However, this hotel - extremely nice and English-speaking receptionists / we were missing a fridge in the room, a few hours after mentioning it, we had a brand new one in the room! I recommend a superior room with a new bathroom / clean, new towels every day, only one sheet to cover two people, but there is a blanket in the closet, nice view of the entire coast, the balcony could have been cleaned more / nests of swallows and a noisy AC / the sound of a boeing taking off /, but the room itself is quiet, soundproofed. I don't know what you're used to having for breakfast at home, but you certainly don't have such a choice as there was here. Again, do not compare breakfasts in hotels of the same category from other countries, each has a different culture and customs and especially standards - then you will not be disappointed. The pool was only 1 day closed for technical reasons during our four-day stay, there is a shower that can be used even after coming from the beach, where unfortunately they don't have a shower. There are not many sunbeds here, but it was never full. Unfortunately, the boy at the pool doesn't speak English, but he is nice and takes good care of the pool area. The beach in front of the hotel is good by local standards, you can definitely relax here, there is no loud music anywhere, sunbeds and umbrellas are maintained free of charge and I have to praise the guy who took care of everything, smiling, communicative, caring, watching the surroundings and keeping the peace / I was amused by chasing away a stray dog for the peace of the guests / and I felt safe with our stuff, even when we went into the water. Definitely a thumbs up for him, the hotel should...
