Fort Shelley — Hotel in Antigua

The villas, even though they could use some updating, were absolutely lovely. The views of the ocean and the neighborhood below were breathtaking—especially at sunrise and sunset. The natural breeze through the property was magical (though definitely strong at times—hold onto your hats!).

Each day there was beautiful sunrise/sunset, make sure you capture it from all the angles!

Our group really appreciated that each of us had our own room, and the space felt both comfortable and accommodating. There were plenty of towels and kitchenware, which made cooking and sharing meals easy. The shared pool area was peaceful and clean, though the water was quite chilly and the space is a bit dated.

If we had one small suggestion, it would be to provide a few basic pantry items like tea, coffee, sugar, and paper towels. Just a few essentials would’ve gone a long way for convenience.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return. It’s a great spot for a group looking to relax, have privacy, enjoy the view, and soak up the Caribbean vibe. The photos of this property don't do it any justice. JUST BOOK IT ALREADY!!!

The Perfect Antiguan Retreat

Nestled atop a picturesque hill with a stunning view of Cades Bay, Fort Shelly Villas was the perfect setting for our family reunion. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the villa's luxurious accommodations and the warm hospitality of the staff.

The villa comfortably housed all 12 of us, offering a sense of space and privacy that the pictures online simply can't capture. With five massive, air-conditioned bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and private balcony, everyone had their own sanctuary. The common areas were just as impressive—a sprawling kitchen, a grand dining room, and a front porch that became our favorite spot for morning coffee. The pool was an absolute highlight, providing a refreshing escape with that breathtaking view always in sight.

What truly set our stay apart was the exceptional service. The villa staff and owners were not only kind and easy to communicate with but also incredibly quick to respond to our every need. The housekeeping team kept the villa immaculate and even went above and beyond by washing our clothes, a small gesture that made a huge difference. The groundskeeper was equally wonderful, surprising us with ripe mangoes from his personal garden—a perfect taste of local life.

With a variety of restaurants and beautiful beaches just a short drive away, we had everything we needed right at our fingertips. Fort Shelley has become our go-to choice for family vacations in Antigua. We originally found the listing on Vrbo, and the local owners have consistently provided a great experience.

The property is ideal for a small wedding (50-75 people). My mom had her sunset wedding by the infinity pool, with amazing views—including the island’s closest volcano. The two houses worked perfectly for hosting both sides of the family. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and spacious, and the kitchen had everything we needed for meals.

The location is convenient with a grocery store nearby (Epicurean) and beaches within driving distance. A car is recommended, though taxi drivers are familiar with the property. The hosts can also connect you with private chefs and drivers for added convenience.
