Jumby Bay Island in Antigua offers an effortless escape from New York. The journey includes a 3-hour, 20-minute flight, a brief 4-minute drive, and a short 7-minute boat ride. From the plane to the resort, we arrived in about 30 minutes, thanks to their seamless fast-track immigration and luggage handling service.||Jumby Bay spans 300 acres and features about 40 suites, 20 villas, and several private residences, making it an exclusive, tranquil destination for discerning travelers. The island exudes luxury, with more staff than guests, ensuring every need is met. What sets Jumby Bay apart from other high-end resorts is the team. We have visited luxury destinations worldwide, but nowhere have we encountered staff as genuinely happy, caring, and enjoyable to be around. Their attention to detail and warm, can-do attitude elevated our experience, making it truly memorable.|||The Suite...||We stayed in a Beachfront Suite with a Plunge Pool at $3,400 per night, including tax. Unfortunately, this was not the ideal choice. The plunge pool was a disappointment: tiny, shallow, stained, unlit, rough-textured, and, worst of all, unheated—rendering it unusable during our stay.||The suite itself was comfortable, with spacious rooms, an excellent bathroom, and both indoor and outdoor showers. Outside, we had an umbrella, two lounge chairs, and two comfortable armchairs. However, when it rained, a roofed area over the lounge chairs would have made it easier to enjoy the outdoors. Our room was about 100 feet from the beach, but it didn’t offer direct private access. For that level of privacy, one of the villas or residences is necessary.|||The Beach and Sandbar Pool...||The beach and pool areas had their highlights and drawbacks. The attendants were attentive and eager to ensure our comfort, and the lounge chairs, huts, and coolers with water were plentiful. The sea was calm, smooth, and breathtaking, with sunsets that were absolutely spectacular. However, the water was murky rather than crystal clear, which was unexpected and disappointing.||The fixed, non-movable umbrellas (huts) created another issue. While aesthetically pleasing, they required us to constantly shift our lounge chairs to stay in the shade. During the last 90 minutes of daylight, shade was impossible, making regular, adjustable umbrellas a better option. The same problem extended to the Sandbar’s infinity-edge pool, which, although stunning, was difficult to enjoy due to the lack of flexible shading options.|||Fitness Room...||The fitness room was excellent. It had all the equipment we needed, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. We didn’t visit the spa, so we can’t comment on that.|||Dining...||The island has three restaurants, all served by the same talented culinary team. This was a standout part of our trip. With special dietary requirements, we had informed the resort in advance, and they went above and beyond to accommodate us. Chef Erick greeted us personally as we arrived, ensuring every meal met our needs. His care and attention rivaled that of a personal butler, (which is only provided at the suites and residences) and he was supported by equally wonderful chefs, Mario and Yousef. Dining here was truly exceptional, thanks to their efforts.|||Summary...||The suites, though slightly dated, were comfortable—aside from the disappointing plunge pool. When we return, we’ll book a villa to enjoy a heated pool and private beach access, as the suite pools are unheated and unusable for us. Despite this, we’ll gladly come back for the ease of travel from New York, the clean and beautiful surroundings, the secure environment, and above all, the incredibly friendly and attentive staff who made our stay...
Read moreThe perfect family vacation and wedding. We were 10 people staying in a villa, "Sandy Cove" which was a great choice. We had a large heated swimming pool and a bay side beach, very private. The villa came with a butler and house manager, these two women worked so hard to make sure our stay was nothing short of perfect and it was. Behind the scenes there was also a small team that we can't thank enough for communication, and expertise in ensuring that everything on our trip was absolutely perfect. This hotel is so well coordinated, everything works seamlessly it was brilliant to watch. For a review, I can't even say this hotel is 5 stars, it went beyond that. For a family trip with 3 kids, I can't say enough good things about the place. They have a small farm on the property, a playground, a day care, water activities, games, multiple pools and one of the finest beaches in the Caribbean. The hotel spends stupid amounts of money combatting the problems of Sargassum, while unfortunately it does exist, the hotel had boats and trucks driving it away nearly all day to make sure we didn't see much of it. Some homes on North East probably get it worse that the south west of the island. Keep that in mind when booking. The food on the island is great, my one complaint in the whole 4 nights we were there, is the lack of variety. We ate at the estate 2 nights in a row, to find the same menu, breakfast while some items did rotate a majority didn't. But really not a complaint as there were so many options that you can make every day unique. The hotel also does a brilliant job with a rotation of "pop ups" that create a unique opportunity for new foods as well. And even the buffet menus have an al la carte option as well. So for my daughter who is too picky, she was able to get a waffle at breakfast or mac and cheese at night even when it wasn't an option at the buffet or on a menu per se. The hotel also makes it very easy to walk up to any bar or restaurant and order a drink or food. No wrist bands or what room are you in, sign this or that. Its just I want x cocktail and 5 minutes later you are drinking that cocktail walking to the next spot. Another thing I must comment on is the hotels capability to be a honeymoon hot spot while also being a family friendly hotel. throughout our stay we are on this huge island, yet you feel like this island is private for you. You barely run into people, maybe because it was more off season, I can't speak for Christmas or Thanksgiving but I can see enjoying the hotel equally if it was just my wife and I without our family, a different vacation all together or doing it again with the whole family in a few years. You earned a place in my heart forever Jumby bay and we look forward to seeing you again. Thank you to the whole team. And if you're on the fence on this hotel, don't be its...
Read moreWe just returned from the most relaxing honeymoon ever at Jumby Bay, and the highlight of our trip was, without a doubt, the people working there. The level of attention and care they showed us made this experience truly unforgettable.
From the moment we arrived, the fast pass at the airport made everything seamless, and the transfer team was waiting to whisk us away on a beautiful 10-minute boat ride to the island. It set the tone for the entire stay—smooth, thoughtful, and luxurious.
When we arrived, we were greeted by Nichol and Keisha, who welcomed us with the best smiles and made us feel right at home. Omari was ready for us at the bar, ensuring we started our stay in the best way possible.
The staff’s attention to detail was incredible, remembering our dining preferences and even our allergies, which made every meal that much more special. At the lunch grill, Yjaira, Susie, Akeila, Maureen, and Deno went above and beyond to make us feel at home.
Antoine made sure we were always comfortable and well taken care of, adding another layer of thoughtfulness to our stay.
We had so much fun with the activities! Snorkeling was an absolute highlight, with the team sharing so much local knowledge, and the reef was incredibly healthy—something we truly appreciated. Wake surfing, tennis, and the circumnavigation tour were equally wonderful. And I can’t forget the relaxing spa massage, which was exactly what we needed.
The beach boys—Travis, Chris, Lawson (Tiny), Rodney, and Keyon—deserve a special shout-out for being the best. They made sure we had everything we needed and brought such great energy every day.
Jason, the sommelier at the Veranda, also provided the best wine experience we could ask for. His knowledge and service elevated our dining experience.
Lastly, I’d like to recognize the amazing boat captains—Sean, Randy, and Von—who took such good care of us on the water, ensuring each trip was smooth and filled with stunning views.
We’re sure we’ve missed some names here, so we want to extend a big thank you to all of the staff at Jumby Bay. Your kindness, attention, and warmth made our honeymoon unforgettable, and we can’t...
