Estancia la Alameda — Hotel in Buenos Aires

We just came back from a unforgettable weekend in La Alameda. I visited the place with my friends from Germany.||The location is just great. La Alameda can be easily access from the turnpike Nr. 2, signs indicating the way are all over the place. The beautiful old estancia building is over 200 years old and has direct access to the lagune.||The rooms are quite big, very comfortable and clean. Old stylish furniture was used to decorate, but latest technology is also available: LCD TV, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are nice, mine had a tube with hydromassage. I enjoyed waking up in the morning while listening to the many birds.||The amenities made us feel like home. Great swimming pool with the best view to the lagune, plenty of common spaces for relax, huge yard to go for a walk and see some animals around, high speed Wi-Fi internet, something you wouldn´t expect middle in the pampas. ||The food & beverages were just perfect. Everything was homemade with best-quality farm products. We had some great Argentinean wines, I´d highly recommend the Malbec. Dining room was located just in from of the lagune, it had a big window, so we had a perfect view.||The activities within the estancia is something we enjoyed each time. The horses offered for riding were high value ones, actually the same ones used by locals for the show on Sunday. They were available during the whole day and there was not limitation to use them.||The staff may be one point we will remember the most. From the owners, Andrea and Gustavo, to the hosts Juan and Marcelo, but also every single associate we met, everybody was friendly and ready to assist no matter what. Many, many times, they were even ahead of our needs. I get to travel a lot for business, and haven´t seen such an excellent attitude very often.||The prices are not cheap but fair. You really get a lot of value for your money. We spent two days and one night there, it was an all inclusive package, and indeed, we were never asked to pay for any extras.||Don´t miss the sunset and the nights sitting on the patio and watching the moonshine on the lagune. First the good news: close to Buenos Aires; welcoming hosts; nice job of keeping the old character of the estancia but updating baths; gaucho show fun for kids; comfortable beds. Now the not so good: the pool was dark green and algae ridden(I was looking forward to a swim); food mediocre at best; rooms dark; horses in good flesh but needed grooming and feet looked after; deck chairs needed cushions; lake murky and boat for lake rides(owned by the estancia) looked like it needed work; and wine of very poor quality in a country noted for its wines. We were looking forward to this estancia as a break from our week in hectic Buenos Aires. The drive wasn't too long (about 11/2 hr) but once we got to the town, there were no directions except for a map with roads with no names - had to ask directions several times(we don't speak much Spanish). We arrived late at night but they had dinner for us. We got up the next morning planning to go for a swim after breakfast but the pool hadn't been cleaned in a very long time and was dark green with algae. We decided to sit out by the pool but the chairs were either broken or very hard with no cushions. We decided to go for a ride - the horses were okay but needed care such as grooming and feet trimmed(we are experienced riders). The lake was sudsy and murky - no swimming. The area is apparently a "resort town" but most of the people were camping and there wasn't anything to do. The estancia did not offer anything to do either other than a murky green pool, sudsy lake, and awful wine. We are experienced travelers and enjoy new experiences but definitely would not stay here again. We paid $900 (in U.S. cash as requested by the owners) for this visit and it certainly wasn't worth it. Try...

Fuimos un finde con mi novio y la verdad que los reviews me dieron un poco de miedo pero nada que ver! Al menos nuestra experiencia estuvo lejos de los reviews malos que vimos.

El servicio fue increíble. Muy rápido todo, súper puntuales y principalmente: MUY buena onda. Pasamos horas charlando con los chicos, amables, divertidos y nos hicieron sentir como en casa.

La comida mega abundante y riquísima. El desayuno tenía todo fresco, las medialunas, budín casero, jamón y queso en fetas, pan casero, frutas, jugo exprimido de naranja. Comimos una bondiola que explotaba de rica y la cortabas con cuchara, que encima vino después de una picada (aceitunas, salamín, 2 tipos de queso y pan) que viene como entrada junto con la bebida. Los postres todos 10/10, el asado súper sabroso y del momento que lo pedimos hasta que nos llevaron los platos a la mesa, habrán pasado SIN EXAGERAR 5 minutos como mucho. Y el asado para 2 traía dos chorizos y 2 empanadas de carne riquísimas, con queso mar del plata en cubitos y salsa criolla.

Los animales que están dando vueltas por ahí (están la mayoría sueltos) son todos mansitos, parecen perros. Al final nos terminamos haciendo amigos de los chivos, los perros y de un gatito. La segunda noche teníamos a 5 chivos, 3 perros y al gato paraditos en frente de nuestra habitación con cara de "ahora vamos a dormir todos juntos, no?". LOS AMO CHIVITOS. Los podés acariciar a todos, darles mimos, darles de comer, una experiencia única. También pudimos darles de comer de la mano directo a dos caballos (Pepe y Picasso), y a terneritos. Los perros se llaman Pocha, Pocho (hijo de Pocha) y Papucho. Papucho te va a saludar como si fueras su dueño. Pocha te va a pedir comidita cuando estés almorzando, pero sin saltar a la mesa ni nada. Se sienta y te mira con ojitos grandes.

No podemos comentar sobre las actividades porque debían haber 1 millón de mosquitos por metro, y al ser al aire libre, elegimos hacer esas actividades por nuestra cuenta mientras nos echábamos off cada 2 minutos. Claramente no se puede hacer mucho contra esto, ojalá que la ola de frío que se viene los borre de Chascomús, pero al menos veíamos que fumigaban en lugar constantemente. Aunque la batalla contra los mosquitos es una difícil de ganar. Lo bueno es que el chico de la recepción terminó contándonos toda la historia del lugar (que es una de las actividades en grupo que tienen), y después otro chico de ahí nos dejó alimentar a los animales (también una actividad).

Las habitaciones bien antiguas (es medio la idea del lugar ya que se conserva la estructura que se mantiene hace 200 años) pero renovadas, no pasás frío, la cama es como dormir en una nube. Quizás lo único medio malo es que el agua tardaba bastante en calentar, pero cuando arrancaba no se terminaba (y eso que tardo en bañarme yo). Teníamos un ventanal gigante con vista al laguna!

El lugar en general es hermoso, teníamos vista al laguna, de noche había tanta paz que se escuchaban a las carpas cómo chapoteaban en el laguito. Y se podía ver la vía láctea! Lo que sí, estás yendo al campo, a una estancia. Si querés un lugar más como un hotel y que no te cruces con barro o ese tipo de cosas, no sé si realmente querías ir a una estancia. Vi gente quejándose de eso pero hermano, estás yendo al campo, por qué entonces te quejás de encontrarte con un campo?

Es para ir a desconectarte de la tecnología y conectarte con la naturaleza. Mi novio y yo la pasamos bomba yendo a recorrer la reserva ecológica, jugando con los animalitos, paseando y descansando.

La ubicación es buena si estás con auto porque estás a 20 y pico de minutos del centro. Como nosotros no teníamos auto, los chicos de la recepción nos dieron el número del remís que usan ellos. Y hasta uno de los chicos se ofreció a llevarnos cuando salía de trabajar de la estancia!
