Gran Hotel Potrerillos — Hotel in Distrito Potrerillos

I wanted to make it a long and thorough review, but when you have a small kid it's too much of a task. So I'll try to use fewer words than I wanted initially.

1. Location - amazing. Great views. The part of the lake closest to the hotel got dried up (Nov 2023), but still - amazing.
2. Hotel - nice building. Dirty rooms. Had to ask to clean the floors as I've got a small baby who likes crawling. They put us in the most uncomfortable room ever for a family (staircase +small step just outside the room). Rooms are super small but OK from price-quality standpoint.
3. Infrastructure - good. Some furniture is quite old, but overall the landscape is well maintained.
4. Service - bad. They called our room at 11 48 pm to inquire why I didnt pay the dinner bill, and woke my 8 months old baby. I went down to the restaurant and got a bit angry, they apologized but the aftertaste remained. Obviously they counted the money in the cash desk and everything added up. What a stupidity. The reception staff I would characterize as politely-indifferent (with exceptions! there were very nice people who really cared). The restaurant staff are usually extremely slow, it takes them 20 minutes to bring a bottle of water if you order it to the table and don't wait for it behind the cashier's. Again, not everyone was like that. Depends on how lucky you are. There weren't many people in both restaurants, but the service was pretty slow.
5. Food. Main restaurant - good, but a small selection. Large portions. Decent prices. Second restaurant (grill) - very good food - kudos to grill guys. Above average prices.
6. Activities. The hotel does not offer any. Best to travel with a car to see sights around. If not, you can walk to see a few lake vistas. The pedestrian walk is a tiled road, which gives you a few kms of a walk with great sights.

Overall, the hotel is OK but just lacks proper management. With good service, I am sure, most people would just forget about some minor flaws and enjoy it to the fullest. A good example how a great foundation is hurt by the...

Cuando llamo para reclamar me dice que tienen que llamar al técnico, qué tal vez venga tarde, que si quiero "una estufita". A todo ésto yo ya había intentado reservar habitación a través de la propia página web del hotel y habían habitaciones disponibles! Pero según el recepcionista "es un error del sistema". Nunca más lo trajo. A todo ésto traté de llamarla, de hacer contacto visual...nada. She never brought it back. To all this I tried to call her, to make eye contact...nothing. Five or six girls attended, none looked... or played with a baby, or chatted among themselves, or went into the kitchen and never came out again!| I had to get up to call one of her and I had to call her three times within half a meter of her!| When our girl returns, I demand the bread and again, the excuse of the ignorant and inoperative... it's the other's fault.| Shall we go to lunch? Really wanted to like this hotel more but can’t recommend owing to poor service.

Pros: the garden with the lakeside view are stunning. The hotel is clean and in good condition. The shower is as hot as you like, with a really good flow rate. The beds are quite big. They’re fairly responsive with email communication. The restaurant prices are reasonable and the food is good. The restaurant was very accommodating of my coeliac disease (gluten free).

Cons: the service is painfully slow and the staff are occasionally polite but generally inattentive and rude. A couple of times it felt almost confrontational, which was confusing and unpleasant.

An example, when we arrived we were ignored for about 10 minutes before anyone spoke to us. We said hello to several members of staff who just smiled and ignored us. When the front of house did arrive he was friendly and helpful. Which made it even more weird how the other staff had ignored us.

Another example, I ordered an espresso and a glass of water at the bar. After 10 minutes I asked where it was and clarified the order. A full 20 minutes passed. I was sat at the bar and could see the staff standing around talking. One of them looked over so I waved - they then all looked at me continuing to chat amongst themselves. It then took a further 5 minutes for one of them to make...
