Impeccable quality.. the construction, furnishings, food, activities, attention, all first rate. I've been to many estancias around BsAs, and this was far and away the best in every way.
It's surprisingly close to the city, just 2-1/2 hours - which is half the time it takes to get to the southern beaches that most Porteños flock to in the summer. Do yourself a favor and go in the opposite direction than everyone else - head north, to Entre Rios province - which has more interesting geography than the boring pampas of Buenos Aires province.
The host and his staff strike a perfect balance between entertaining you and giving you space and peace. So if you want adventure - bird watching, hiking, kayaking, fishing, cocktails around a bon fire - they are there to provide. But if you just want a quiet weekend by the pool under the stars with your sweetie, you can have that too with no interruptions.
No kids allowed brings a welcome respite from the screaming families one normally finds at these kinds of places. Each part of every meal was top notch, I really can't say enough about the food and drinks.
Just keep in mind that it's extremely isolated - there is no "corner store" for 30km - so make sure to bring any little things you may require - cigarettes, favorite snacks, toiletries, etc.
Highly...
Read moreThe estancia is a delightful base in the midst of the delta just two hours from Buenos Aires perfectly located for birding and a quiet escape. Gaston and his team are committed to make your stay special with great food, excellent service, and very comfortable rooms. A guide with a vehicle is necessary to explore the delta with bountiful birding hot spots. Horacio Matarasso from Buenos Dias Birding was truly exceptional and kind and we saw over 100 species in two days with many species new to us - white woodpecker, burrowing owls, every raptor imaginable and a superb collection of marsh birds. Horacio's skill and gentle approach to welcoming birds to our list was simply amazing. And he is a professor of ornithology and head of the South American organization affiliated with BirdLIfe international - what a privilege to spend time with him.||||After intense birding with the extraordinary Horacio we enjoyed a couple of lazy days by the pool reading and refining our bird identification skills with walks in the pampas and then Horacio drove us back to Buenos Aires with stops at nature reserves...
Read moreWe visited the estancia towards the end of our 23 day trip to Argentina. We had planned to go to Otamendi but visited this estancia instead. We did not stay but would certainly do so in the future. The rooms looked very comfortable. The lounge and sitting areas of the ranch are excellent and the manager, Gaston, could not have been more helpful. The refreshments and lunch he provided were very good indeed. We even managed to photograph a snake devouring a very large frog from our sitting area. The area is very rural, surrounded by marsh and woodland, and should be excellent for birds...
