We wanted to get a nice quick bite on our third and last meal at Mendoza before heading to the airport. We had had breakfast at the finca where we stayed and we had had 2 full days of “pasos” meals. The webpage and the confirmation email said we could have “menu a la carta” or “menu de pasos”, which is obviously more expensive. When we got there we were told somewhat rudely that a la carta was not possible. Because of the misunderstanding we were allowed to avoid the starter and go directly to the main course. We were given a “degustación” of an olive oil, really very little amount in which to dio some bread. We had the trout and the rabbit capelettis. The trout was well cooked really, not at all dry, but the potatoes that came along were somewhat dull. The capelettis were fine. We were offered wine by the glass but were not told how much they were so that we could take that into consideration when we made our choice. The dessert, queso y dulces, wasn’t very good though bigger than the dishes. We were told that the quesos included Brie, parmesano and morbier (they either don’t know what morbier is or they forgot to place it on the dish), and some jammed fruits. The pistachos added up a bit, but there was some sort of dry cake that was no good. Don’t quite recommend it. We payed AR$1,100 for the described + 2 glasses of chardonnay that were ok,...
Read moreBeautiful property with excellent service. The grounds are lovely, and guests are invited to explore the property, including the historic buildings and cellars, as well as the vineyards and around the greenhouses. The pool is great on a hot day, but there's not much shade during the day, so be prepared to be out in the hot sun. There's also a hot tub and small workout space with one piece of gym equipment. Rooms are spacious and comfortable (although the air conditioning wasn't as cooling as I'd like). The restaurant is excellent - we enjoyed breakfast and dinners there. The house olive oil is INCREDIBLE. Every evening, they offer wine tastings for all guests, which was a wonderful way to socialize with other guests as well as try some of their wide range of wines. Location is a bit remote, you'll need a car to get anywhere else. It took about 30 min each time we needed to call a car (taxi, Uber, Cabify, etc), so plan accordingly if you need to get somewhere. The staff at reception were always great at helping us call a car when we weren't able to get an Uber or Cabify, but the service they use was generally...
Read moreSomehow disappointed. The pictures on the website are very attractive and it is a nice location and has some charm, but you are not far from a busy road and it is all not so quiet. The major disappointment was the quality of the service we did not expect from such an expensive place. There was some hair left in our bath tub. When asking the receptionist to receive the invoice after payment, he would send it by e-mail later. He never did. In the beginning when asking how much would be the payment in pesos, he would revert to me. He never did and I needed to ask him again. For the last day we wished to have a 7:45 am breakfast. The ladies arrived at 7:30 am. First they said no problem. Then they looked bad tempered when we pressed them a bit to get the breakfast, and we got a half breakfast at 8:00 am. In the evening there is a wine tasting with the other guests which is a nice initiative. The lady who presented the wine gave us no more information than what was written on the label of the bottle. The staff is too much acting like civil servants who work the hours for which they are paid, and that's...
