After traveling to Mendoza, Argentina many times to become immersed in experiencing unforgettable wine tastes, philosophies and stories behind the many uncharted vineyards and recapture the exceptional breathtaking naturally beautiful landscapes and destinations within the Region, this time around my wife and I decided to take a step back and look for a more cozy one-stop-location “feel like I´m at home, but away from home” boutique posada (translation “inn/lodge”) to just literally relax, unwind and disconnect ourselves from the everyday city life back home. After searching various posadas via Instagram, we came across a place called Rancho Adobe in the Tupungato Region within the Estancia Atamisque. After reviewing the images online and conversations with the owners, it seemed to fit the criteria we were looking for and let me tell you that per their slogan: “Disconnect to connect” We love receiving guests who become friends”, hit the bullseye the second we arrived!
Rancho Adobe is located on a private lot within Estancia Atamisque (Atamisque Ranch) in Valle de Uco (Uco Valley), about 80 km southwest from Mendoza city and about 45 minutes from some of the main wineries of the Uco Valley, to name a few: Zuccardi, Salentein, Andeluna, Monteviejo, Domaine Bousquet, etc. Personal FYI… the last 15 km to the Estancia is gravel road, more so when selecting vehicle type!
Upon arrival to Rancho Adobe, we were greeted with warm open-arms by the owners Javier and Luli, exceptional hosts by all means, as well as for their personal touch to the experience, hospitality and knowledge of the Region (both are originally from Buenos Aires before moving to Mendoza).
Upon entering the place, right away our eyes open with euphoria, felling right away homey but with a mayor difference of a breath-taking 180º view of the majestic landscape, “adobe-like” style posada that inspires the architectural representation of being one with the regions natural topography, and last but not least, the “bodega” (where wines are stored, and I want one in my house!) with a grand selection of regional wines.
Regarding Javier/Luli´s presence, they offer the idea of them being part of the experience (chit-chatting) or only be available when needed if one comes with the idea of “privacy” accommodations. Our idea with them was for them to be part of our experience as if they are part of the family (we love to talk!), enjoy breakfast/dinner with us (presentation and food selection top-notch based on our gastronomic requests and what is available at that moment based on the current season and personal food restrictions), drink various selection of wines (where some nights lasted into the wee morning hours), story-telling about Rancho Adobe project, experiences, life, the region, and taking us horseback riding and tours to explore new and fascinating “off-the-beaten-paths” that is not accessible by conventional means, adding to the allure of this place by creating a sense of adventure, discovery and wonder, allowing guests to connect with the environment in a unique way where pictures cannot come close to explain what ones’ eyes perceive!
The Estancia as well offers amenities for example Club de Vinos (Wine Club) where one can enjoy some local cuisine based on local products and wine tasting by local wine makers.
Well, we can go on and on, but it’s now your turn to visit and encounter a unique experience for yourself!
Javier / Luli…thank you for a one of kind experience that we will never forget. We will definitely plan a revisit, but this time with our children. Take care and much success on your new...

Staying at Rancho Adobe was one of the most memorable and heartwarming experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, Luli and Javi made us feel completely at home in their beautiful space. They are not just hosts- they are genuinely kind, thoughtful, and warm-hearted people who opened their home to us with such generosity that we instantly felt like part of the family.
The Rancho itself is stunning - beautifully designed interiors that blend effortlessly with the natural surroundings, and views that take your breath away. We spent our time sipping delicious local wine, enjoying incredible homemade food, and soaking in the peacefulness of the landscape.
Luli went above and beyond by organising wine tastings and tours for us, which were all curated with care and deep local knowledge. We felt like we were getting a truly authentic Mendoza experience thanks to her thoughtful planning and connections. She and Javi also gave us amazing recommendations for Buenos Aires, which turned out to be some of the highlights of our time in Argentina.
We also can’t forget to mention Perri, their sweet and gentle dog- such a joy to have around and truly part of the Rancho’s charm. We absolutely adored her!
This wasn’t just a place to stay - it was an experience of warmth, connection, and genuine hospitality. Luli and Javi are exceptional hosts and truly special people. If you’re lucky enough to find availability at Rancho Adobe, don’t hesitate. It’s a magical place that will stay with you long after you leave.
Thanks...
Read moreRancho Adobe was a highlight of my honeymoon trip to Argentina and Chile. The hotel is small and intimate, with just a few rooms. The owners have perfectly executed a "home-away-from-home" feeling, but, unlike home, there is excellent hospitality and luxurious touches. The rooms are spacious and spotless, with comfortable beds and pillows, and lovely bath products. Each room has a private patio with breathtaking views of the Andes. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the beautiful living and dining room common spaces. The owners/hosts, Javi and Luli, (the entire operation is run by a couple) take wonderful care of you from the time you make your reservation. They helped us to reserve a horseback riding excursion nearby, a whitewater rafting trip, and transportation to and from Rancho Adobe. Javi and Luli are wonderfully caring and will make sure your experience is relaxing and memorable. The location is only about 45 minutes from Mendoza, but feels remote. The setting is incredibly quiet and peaceful, with clear stargazing at night, fresh mountain air, and unbelievable views. We loved walking around the larger property, often followed by the hotel dog, Perri, and greeted by the hotel donkey, Olga. The food was an unexpected highlight. The hosts prepare breakfast and dinner themselves, as there are not restaurants nearby. We had excellent steak, homemade pizzas, and fresh pasta for dinners, all with a variety of local wines and homemade desserts. We loved dining with the hosts and particularly enjoyed an outdoor fire on our last night. I highly recommend Rancho Adobe and hope to...
