We chose Bo hotel because of its reviews here and its location, south of Salta (on the way to Cafayate and Cachi) and close to the end of the Quebrada del Toro down from San Antonio. It saved us an hour's drive evening and morning to/from Salta city when we did a four day figure of 8 self drive: Salta - Tilcara - Chicoana - Cafayate - Cachi - Chicoana. We stayed there night 5 as it was convenient for the airport, also south of the city. The rooms were comfortable and arranged around a lovely garden and breakfast (included) and dinner (book ahead) were delicious. We also found Chicoana lived up to its billing of "unspoilt Gaucho town", with a pleasant square and an untouristed traditional Gaucho Parade the Sunday morning...
Read moreWe stayed for two nights at this B&B in Chicoana just south of Salta (on our way to Cachi). We arrived on Christmas eve and joined the local community gathering around the church for the Christmas service. There is a nice square with a bakery but not much else in this gaucho town. ||The owners had left for the holidays and Charlie and his girlfriend were in charge of the property. They cooked both evenings for us which was very nice as there are no restaurants in the neighbourhood. The rooms were colorful and nicely decorated. Also the garden is nice with a small pool. You don't expect such a nice place in a sleepy town like that.||The Spa is a big word as it is just a plastic jacuzzi and a massage bed. We were charged for filling up the bath tub.||Reading the reviews from the previous guests I am afraid the new managers have big shoes to fill. Tony and Roxanna were famous for their cooking skills and also provided cooking workshops.||We were happy we stayed here on our journey throughout the Salta region. It was...
Read moreWe stayed two nights at this small hotel in Chicoana. We chose it because we had stayed in cafayate and wanted to be close to salta airport - 1 hour, and to drive the mainly sealed road to cachi , via parque nationale los cardones. It was a great base. Awesome drive! The town is totally not touristy so interesting in that respect. No restaurants open when we were there. But the joy is the couple running the hotel, he is a chef, you have to organize with them and they will cook for you. We had an amazing meal of pumpkin and walnut sorrentino (think Argentinan ravioli ) with a cream and pimento sauce . He then cooked us amazing chocolate fondants. All very reasonably priced. The rooms are clean and basic but there is a large garden that you can sit in. Nice breakfast with good plunger coffee, He made the bread, best I have had yet in our travels . ...
