We drove in to Irupe from Iguacu - transfers arranged by the lodge - and the length of the drive combined with the condition of some of the roads really puts in to perspective how incredibly isolated this place is. If you're expecting TV's in the room, lightning speed wifi and all mod cons, this is not the place for you, remember, everything here has to come down that road!||We stayed over Christmas and had the place completely to ourselves. All of the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The food was good and we'd paid for everything up front so no dramas with prices, credit cards etc.||The activities were outstanding. We did two boat safaris; one in the morning and one the following evening. The wildlife put on a good performance for us both times. Horse riding with the Gauchos was reasonably hilarious with all four of us being total novices but we survived unscathed. There's a nature reserve close by with monkeys which we went to twice, once with the guides and once by ourselves as it was so good. Just strolling in to the forest and seeing the monkeys up close was a really worthwhile experience and possibly one of the most un-Christmas like things we've ever done on Christmas day.||Yes there were a couple of hiccups with the boat and we had to cut one trip short but again, the staff were great and threw in some alternative activities at short notice.||Speaking of staff, it's worth giving Mauricio a mention. Driver, guide, english translator, "fixer of things", immense local knowledge. He was a pleasure to have look after us and nothing was too much trouble....
Read moreWe stayed at Irupe Lodge for 3 nights and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We enjoyed the activities on offer although we weren't told when we arrived what all the options were and found out from other guests that there was more to do than we realised. However, we had a great day out with a boat ride on the wetlands followed by a horse ride and lunch at an estancia. We saw a lot of wildlife. Our guide was very good and explained a lot about the eco system etc.The next day we went for another short boat ride and walk where we saw howler monkeys and we also went for another horse ride. We paid for half-board which included dinner and breakfast. If you choose to buy lunch there (there isn't anything else around that area) it is quite expensive so perhaps better to book full board.||The accommodation was very comfortable and the location is beautiful. It is worth the 3 hour car journey on dirt roads to get there! We were met at the airport by Alejandro and driven there in a 4 wheel drive. (He is an excellent driver!) ||Overall a great experience and we are so pleased we decided...
Read moreWe stopped at Irupe lodge in March 2020 before the coronavirus lockdowns and it was the most amazing place. It's not easy to get to but is so worth it.Regi was really helpful in accommodating our travel plans and advising us and dropping us at Posadas bus station for our journey north.||||The hotel is right on the lake it is a great location, the staff are really helpful, we had a few communication issues with not knowing Spanish well enough but it wasnt a problem. We had 2 boat safaris and 1 horseback, the boat trips in particular were really special seeing so much wildlife up close and the guides Fatima & Danielle were very knowledgable and helpful.||||The rooms were spacious and airy, only thing we were surprised was that there wasn't a mosquito net but we had our own so this didn't matter. The pool is lovely it was so hot we couldn't sit out for long but had a dip in the sun. The breakfast was tasty and the evening meals were especially good! Would love to come back again one day it's a truly special place I hope it doesn't...
