Karadya Birding Lodge and Reserve — Hotel in Municipio de Comandante Andresito

I stayed at the Bio Reserva for a whole month so I really got a good impression of the place and its owners Luciana and Julian. I must say that this place is magical as it lies in the heart of the rainforest. If you are into nature make sure you go there. Everyday i discovered different species of animals be it birds, beetles or butterflies. At night I could see the milky way which I hadnt seen in a long time. Still grateful for that and so many other things. ||||The buildings are made out of wood so they fit right into its surroundings and are also beautifully designed. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The bathroom is spacious and has a bath tub in it. I arrived the reserva at the end of my travels and i hadnt taken any baths along my way so i was suprised to take my first warm bath in the middle of the rain forest. It really didnt feel like a cabin in the woods more like a little one bedroom high class hotel. One side of the bedroom is completely made out of glass so you have the most amazing view in the morning. The cabin also has a roof terrace which is great to sit and relax. One can feel that the owners Julian and Luciana really put their heart into these buildings and are devoted to what they do.||||The meals i head there were incredible. Fresh local produce just how it should be.||||What else to say about this place? Its great for hiking as there are several trails going through the forest. As both Julian and Luciana are biologists they can tell you a lot about the rainforest and its inhabitants. Julian is a certified bird guide so if you are into birds you can go with him on guided walks. Karadya Bio Lodge is one of the rare places where you live undisturbed and privately inmidst pristine primary forest. The "tower" cabin is an impressive wooden 4 story building: Terrace down, living room 1st floor, sleeping room 2nd floor with great view right from the bed, and terrace on top right in the canopy of giant trees, open view over the rainforest to the west. There is a 3min pathway through the forest to the main lodge where you get your nicely prepared meals, so you are really in a hideout and can enjoy views and nature in your private way. Yet you have your warm water and bathtube, kingsize non-wobbly bed, a refrigerator and can load your batteries any time. The forest is a remaining part of original atlantic rainforest, with a rich population of birds, mammals like Agouti Anteater or Armadillo, and a phantastic rich heritage of trees bushes and plants of course. All rooms are screened, and with a little common sense you can keep insects totally out (don't open the screen and have light inside at night...). We had a day birding with Julian the owner, who is professional biologist full of knowledge about just anything you encounter out there. His empathic and sympathic attitude made it a pleasure to go with him, and of course he knows the place perfectly well and was able to show us the resident Blue Manakin, which is easy to see in the mating season, but quite hiding in February. Karadya Bio-Reserve is a fantastic place that allows you to explore, relax, and enjoy the beauty that is so unique to Misiones, Argentina. While only about an hour from Iguazú National Park and the airport, it provides a quiet paradise where you can take a siesta in a hammock, sit and watch the wildlife from a deck, or put on your boots and hike the many trails through the incredible forest that makes up the Bio-Reserve.
