I would like to give this a higher rating than average because the cabanas are well-designed and constructed, were cool at night, and the bed was comfortable. But, aside from the nice riverside location, thats about all the good things to report. ||||The first negative is that there is no fridge and we arrived with a bottle of bubbly for my birthday that needed to be chilled. And don't most people carry soft drinks. juice, etc? There were also no water glasses in the room - never mind wine glasses - we were told (unconvincingly) that they didn't want guests to drink the tap water. So if the tap water is undrinkable shouldn't they provide a bottle of water gratis? It cost us just 8 pesos for a 2 litre bottle. ||||The very heavy "rustic" patio chairs were extremely impractical and very uncomfortable - hard very flat seats with the seat back impossibly deep. In order to use it we had to stuff it with the bed quilt and pillows, and then we had to share the one seat. ||||Also, since the restaurants in town are very bland and basic, it would have been nice to have a bbq facility and not have to endure the same dull menu 2 nights in a row. Only the deluxe cabana has a private bbq, but there is plenty of space to build others on the grass. The WIFI, despite the staffs insistence, did not work either in our cabana or the reception/breakfast area. (and we tried repeatedly on both a new Mac and a tablet). ||||Lastly, the breakfast was the worst I've had in a continent (and a country) known for very basic hotel breakfasts. Watery sweet "orange juice", very weak coffee, old and cold toasted bread, butter, dulce de leche, and some sort of papaya jam. No media-lunas, no cereal, no fruit, no yoghurt, no fresh orange juice, and certainly no eggs. ||||Lastly, since they call this an "eco-lodge" why didn't they install a solar hot water system instead of a standard...
Read morePuro Moconá Lodge & Tours is a most charming hotel located directly at the Rio Uruguay on the south-side of El Soborbio at 300m of the bus terminal. The very quiet hotel offers cabins placed in a large garden, each cabin with 2 separate rooms & private garage; a restaurant, a gym, and a large terrace with pool. The staff is friendly and attentive.||||We made a reservation over the phone. The room was very nice, the garden superb, the view of the river great and the pool nice.||||Our room had a very good queen-size bed, a bench that can be used as an extra single bed, air-conditioning, tea-making facility, fridge, walk-in wardrobe, balcony with a large bench and view of the river, and no TV and no safe. We had a bathroom with washbasin, shower, toilet and bidet. All was very clean.||||Windows can be opened and but unfortunately have no mosquito screens.||||In the restaurant you find good food. The wine list is nice. The kitchen sticks literally to the menu and is totally inflexible. A nice continental breakfast is served: rolls & croissants, toast & pastries, fresh fruit salad, butter, ham & cheese, marmalade & dolce-de-leche, home made lime lemonade, tea & coffee.||||The hotel offers pricey tours to Moconá & Encantado waterfalls. To Moconá ARS 19,400 per person. Note that a taxi for a day is charged at ARS 12,000 and the micro-bus at 08:00 from the town centre is ARS 4,000 per person. The latter can be reserved at the tourist info.||||We were very pleased with the garden and the quietness of the place and we had a very nice stay. Highly...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience. The staff is incredibly rude. The “international” restaurant only offers pizza and empanadas. Since I’m vegan and it was pouring raining outside, we ordered delivery. In very poor manners, the receptionist told us we couldn’t do it. After a short discussion, she finally let us eat inside. While we were having dinner, we were discussing how there is no WiFi in the rooms(reason why we chose this hotel). Out of nowhere, this receptionist interrupts us and started attacking us. She was saying how it was so obvious there is no WiFi and that we should already know that. While she could of explained us the reasons in a polite and respectful way, she chose to treat us as if we where children and lectured us. It never happed to us that an employee belittled us that way. The staff is incredibly disrespectful and nobody cared when we explained the situation the morning after, they even justified the rude receptionist. Also, the rooms are filled with bugs, the beds are uncomfortable, the electric kettle didn’t work, they had no television, no mini fridge and the odor was disgusting. The breakfast is very poor, you had to order among the 2 choices they offer. We were expecting more of it. I’m not one to complain but I never experienced something like that. It’s a shame since the locations and...
