Laguna Cóndor - Refugio de Montaña — Hotel in Santa Cruz Province

We stayed there during November 2013 for 2 nights and it was the highlight of our Argentinian trip! The place is about 20km from el chalten in the middle of the national park so you really feel in the nature away from everything. People working there are all very kind and the service they offer is really professional. They organise many great adventure activities. Over the 3 days we were there we did some kayak in the glacier river (highly recommended!!), it is not cold. You get specific clothing for it. We went hiking in the national park to see Fitz Roy. And we went on to the Viedma Glacier for a boat + glacier hikling day. All of this was organized by them in a very professional and fun way. Fitz Roy Expecidiones is the organization behind it. ||You sleep in very cute little cabanes along the river. Showers and toilers are in a specific block but eventhough we are used to sleeping in hotel, it wasnt an issue for us. Big fire place in the dining area, really nice food for breakfast and diner, and great packed lunch as well. We arrived at Laguna Condor, went up the wooden steps & were welcomed into the gorgeous main lodge. There was a warm fire in a cozy sitting area, a wooden bar & tables set for dinner, plus stairs leading to an upper loft. Floor to ceiling windows brought in the beauty of the mountains & the river. Our gracious host took us out to our perfect little cabin. Once we had a hot shower & settled in, we headed back for wine & cheese by that warm fire. The hot tub on the deck looked inviting but we skipped that experience. My daughter went for a walk around the grounds while I napped on one of the couches on the upstairs gallery. Our dinner was excellent and plentiful. We slept well in our comfy beds, cuddled in many blankets. Breakfast was from a large buffet & you could order a hot selection. We chose our packed lunch from a wide selection of sandwiches & fruit. We were quite sad that we only had one night at this...

This is a magical place that is 15km north of El Chalten. 8 cabins and areas for tents too. On the river with views of Mt Fitz Roy. The eating area, salon are exquisite. 4 staff that welcome and greet you and make sure you have all you need. You truly get away here. And they provide transfers for all hikes you want to do.Plus kayaks and bicycles. You have the ease, the natural beauty without having to rent a car. All meals are provided too. I spent days here: reading at the beach, hiking, writing by the fireplace, reading a book in the upstairs loft, enjoying the llamas, meeting other guests/groups as they came and went.
