The best resort in Ushuaia. Arakur is modern with beautiful amenities, including and indoor outdoor infinity pool with stunning views of the mountains! The staff are all very friendly and can speak English. I've broken down my review into three sections: Rooms, Spa, and Restaurant
ROOMS Extremely clean, beautiful interior design, and very comfortable. I love that the curtains auto-open and I love the touch pad on the wall that controls everything from temperature to alarm clock. The rooms feel like a modern luxury, especially with the gorgeous view. Cleaning service is efficient and fantastic.
SPA As mentioned above, the pool area is amazing. The waters are heated to a warm temperature and the outdoor jacuzzis stay very hot. The pools even have music playing underwater! There are also massage and facial services but they require appointments to be booked out at least two days in advance! I was not able to book anything because only one masseuse works per day doing both massages and facials. I could not find a time that worked for me during my stay :( My boyfriend received a massage which he said was just "OK". There are sauna rooms but they require reservations as well.
RESTAURANT I've had breakfast, lunch, room service, and dinner at Arakur. All dining is served in a large room with big windows overlooking the town. The free breakfast...I thought was okay. It consists of mostly breads and sweets, but you can order eggs and pancakes from the kitchen. The hot foods are buffet style but I did not eat much from the buffet because I don't think the food is safe - they sit at a lukewarm temperature which is a food safety hazard! The dinner buffet also looks so-so. I recommend ordering a la carte, which is definitely pricey compared to the average in Ushuaia. However, everything a la carte I've ordered (including room service) is delicious and the dinner dishes are plated beautifully. All of the a la carte menus are digital via QR Code and, unfortunately, there are no English menus. However, the servers are all very helpful and the menu is small and manageable.
I'm being pretty picky. Overall, I loved my stay at Arakur and highly recommend this resort to anyone looking to reside in a secluded, luxurious environment. The only major negative aspect I can think of is that Arakur is a bit secluded from town. It is about a 15min drive down the hill, which has potholes and can be pretty scary to drive on at night. I recommend taking the free shuttle to and from town. We took an old taxi once, in the middle of the night, and it was pretty...terrifying. I thought we were not going to make it all the way...
Read moreA lovely hotel perched high above Ushuaia in Terre del Fuego Patagonia Argentina with amazing spectacular view of the Beagle channel and the city. We stayed for two nights in late January in a King room (with a view).||The room with its hard-wood floors and comfortable bed felt cozy. The bathroom was equipped with rain showers, tub, toilet and bidet plus double sinks. Water and delicious chocolates were provided each day by the friendly housekeeping staff. We ate several meals in the hotel restaurant including two dinners and two breakfasts (an ample buffet was included in our room rate).||The food was good but not quite up to the level of our Buenos Aires hotel. The dining room takes full advantage of the view as well. They run a free shuttle service down (and back) to town on a fixed schedule and the hotel has an indoor pool although we were too busy exploring to find or use it. No AC IN THE ROOM but since 50 is a warm day here all you need to do is pop open one of the small windows (as we did) and it’s plenty cool for sleeping.||Room was technologically up to date but all charging ports were on the small counter under the TV-nothing bedside. Also the free WiFi was a bit pokey but that probably has more to do with the location of the town-you are literally at the southern-most city in the America’s and possibly the world here. (Att service around town vacillated between...
Read moreThis is a fantastic hotel. The views are amazing and the hotel exudes quality. I stayed here before going on a cruise and would definitely recommend staying here if you go to Ushuaia. The views from the rooms are right down over the town and the mountains in Chile. The spa is fantastic, including an indoor swimming pool and outdoor thermal pools with views down over the town. It has a small sauna you can book too. Breakfast was excellent. Really good choice from the buffet, plus you could order eggs etc how you wanted them. I also had lunch here which was the same high quality. The bar also has a good selection of wines. The rooms are really comfortable, with lovely beds. The service is excellent. The only issue is the checkout time, which is 10am. Most hotels its 11 or 12. However they will hold your bags. They also have a small bus down to the town and back at least once an hour, which is free. To top it off there are some lovely walks behind the hotel, which are fully mapped out, including a viewpoint that is worth a visit. If you are not in to walking, there is a viewing room on top of the hotel with amazing views, the stairs are at the spa end of the hotel on the 4th floor. If you are visiting Ushuaia, this is the...
