Iris Bed and Breakfast — Hotel in Alaverdi

Iris B&B is wonderful place just outside Alaverdi in the Debed Canyon. The owner, Irina, runs it with her heart and soul and went out of her way to make our stay a wonderful experience. She made special arrangements for home-cooked vegan food (which was absolutely delicious, especially the roast aubergine/eggplant and Ghapama/Armenian stuffed pumpkin) that wasn't on the regular menu, organised a fantastic driver for our day trip and patiently answered our every question :) ||The room (suite) was well-equipped, the bed and pillows were very comfortable and it was lovely to be able to sit on the veranda in front of our room (or in fact on the one outside the restaurant) and look down towards the river and the garden with so many beautiful flowers. Initially I considered one night but booked two, and then had to extend because I didn’t want to leave. The kitchen is always open to cook for you and the food is consistently good and affordable. The owner, Irina, truly goes above and beyond to make your stay great. As a solo traveler without a vehicle, the location would have been pretty inconvenient if she weren’t on hand to find me cheap taxis everywhere I wanted to go. She was full of suggestions for me for activities in the area and even took me out to the mountains one day to show me her local chapel. Unforgettable experience, I really hope to come back...

The stay was enjoyable to say the least, the old style and antique items displayed throughout the b&b are interesting to see.

The hostess is a nice lady who speaks also english, so it’s nice to have a conversation.

Breakfast is lovely with delicious pancakes and omelettes but for dinner it’s a bit too expensive for the amount of food you get, but there are lovely dinner options in the area Zarni Parni for example.

Overall would i definitely stay here again and see more of the area, or...
