Relocating from SA to ACT over Christmas & NY. Booked the 12 Apostles Cottages for 24-27Dec 2018 for something different. ||We wanted a chilled out, stress free, unplugged, and peaceful Christmas. |Somewhere close to the 12 Apostles and easy access to the Great Ocean Road (GOR).|We liked the sound of the kids (4y & 9y) feeding the chooks & sheep, collecting eggs and NOT being glued to the TV or Devices. |It is exactly what we got! ||The 2br Farmhouse (The Snug) is comfortable for short stays. There’s no available laundry facilities in the cottages, so longer stays may be a bit more arduous. |It sleeps 6, 1 Dbl & 1Sgl in each room. Functional Bathroom with shower & separate toilet. ||Has the Farm house/cottage appeal to the kitchen and living area. The views of the paddocks can be enjoyed from the front deck/veranda. TV and DVD player (I think), the reception/aerial is a little off. But we didn’t really use it anyway. ||Simple, functional and basic kitchen amenities. |1 medium pot, 1 (warped) fry pan, Microwave, Crockery & Cutlery, Utensils, roughly glasses (4-6) of wine and short glassware. A few other bits and bobs. Small table top gas BBQ on the veranda. ||Bring your own food storage, saver containers and wraps, paper towels, cleaning sprays and wipes etc. ||The relic Electric Stove/Oven was something to behold. Reminded us both of childhoods well passed when baking with the Grand Mothers :)|Very cool. Does take a little time to get used to, but is pretty simple to work out.||It was quite chilly at night, and it’s quite a windy area with colder winds off the Southern Ocean. So even in the summer day time, pack a jumper/sweater/spray jacket. |I’d bring extra blankets for nights or use the spare ones from the beds you don’t use. ||There’s a functional reverse cycle split system in the main living area. It heats the living, kitchen and 1st bedroom nicely. The second bedroom is a little far away for it to be effective. ||We didn’t use the Chill shed as it is open all the time and was quite dirty from the birds and any other animal/insects that would inhabit the space. If this area was fully enclosed, cleaned up, and maintained it would be a great breakout space. ||Overall we enjoyed our stay. |We used the property as a base for sightseeing around the GOR. We got to chill out and have a peaceful, simple family Christmas of just the 4 of us. |The kids loved...
