Red Dog Retreat — Hotel in Beaumont

Set in a breathtakingly beautiful setting the Red Dog retreat is nestled in the bush down a steep windy driveway. The cottages are very rustic and quite cozy. Most of the essentials are included. We loved the views, the peace and quiet, the birds - especially the lyre birds and the wombats. Our very old dog was allowed to come with us which was good for all of us. The bbq was great and the kitchen cooking facilities are the best I have seen of any similar type of accomodation I have previously visited. The bathroom and toilet were a little bit run down. Overall this is a great weekend escape, easy driving from Sydney and close to beach, village, scenic and historic attractions. The proprietors, Sally and Ian make the booking process a breeze. We've lost count on how many times we've been back to red dog retreat! With our recent 3 night getaway from sydney to this beautiful cosy sanctuary! The cottage is so cute: country kitchen, lounge, tv with dvds and cds, huge fairytale comfy bed, massive spa and equipped with so much more than your usual accommodation! Perfect for a romantic weekend or peaceful getaway! Directions and access to the property were great especially with my little corolla hatch.. A short drive into town but we didn't want to leave once we'd arrived, seated on the terrace with a glass of wine watching the mist roll in.. We saw lyrebirds, wombats and an echidna! Definitely recommend going for a walk to the red dog letterbox just before the sun goes down to see the wombats, kangaroos and the views..just magical! As most of us with fur babies know it is almost impossible to find a pet friendly place and we were so lucky to find the Red Dog Retreat. It exceeded our expectations and has been an absolute delight staying here for my brothers birthday. The cabin is immaculate and full of charm, the fire place, spa and bedding made for a perfect nights sleep and getaway with our little dog peanut. Sally is such an angel, I forgot to buy milk and it’s been raining sos she was kind enough to drop milk off in the morning. I highly recommend this place, and can’t wait to return!
