Was originally bored when I set up camp at this site. After doing the walk to the cave, I became intrigued with this area and especially after researching Captain Melville on the Internet. Didn't explore the cave, but, will go back again to explore the area in the future. Great views of the granite rocks and hills in the area.
I recommend anyone going to explore the area, drive to the camping area, at the top of the hill, rather than exploring the area from the picnic area at the bottom of the hill. Read moreMy first visit was on a cold night on the Queen's Birthday weekend of 1982! I have returned to 'The Caves' more than 50 times since then. A lot has changed since '82, but granite and form still has that timeless beauty to it when the sun goes down (or when it comes up!). A special place of wild and unblemished grandeur. This really is the place to be if you like the colours of sunrise and sunset, far from the city crowds.
