This is an amazing unspoiled area in beautiful surroundings|. It is off the beaten track, it is about 3kms of gravel road before you see the Rosegums sign. |I am so glad we arrived during daylight or i would definitely have thought we were lost.| There is no phone reception or internet in the tree houses. | To be honest it is just what we needed after over three weeks constantly travelling. We met Dave at the reception and he gave us our house key (no. 7) , he also gave us maps of the area and also some advice. He even helped me to see my first cassawary .|The houses are well spaced and you may never see or hear your nearest neighbour.|We were upgraded to a two bedroomed house. It was really well equipped full kitchen, Bathroom/ shower Jacuzzi bath plus toiletries. Laundry facilities even laundry powder. |On arrival there is a breakfast pack in the fridge for the first morning 4xeggs, cereal, milk, bread spreads, butter, juice. There are no restaurants or shops nearby so i would advise doing a shop before arrival. I had picked up some steaks veg etc . There is also a BBQ if you want to cook outdoors.|There is also a stove and timber for those visiting during colder months.|There are a number of walks / hikes to do on the property or if you want there are a number of beautiful lakes nearby you can visit.| Lake Echam is about 10 km from Rosegums and is a 3km walk around. This lake is very popular for swimming in and even has its own resident crocodile. There is seating for picnics here also toilets. |Every morning around 8am Dave feeds the little Parrots and also the musky rats so you get to see these creatures up close in their natural surroundings.| We had a great stay at Rosegums , Thank you Dave for everything.|Marylin and David...
Read moreThis was one of the best stays we had on our 3 week travel in Australia. We stayed for 2 nights and stocked up to ensure we were cut off from everything and enjoyed 2 full days of doing next to nothing. We bought food to BBQ which we enjoyed on the balcony/veranda area. The check in was flawless and was informed due to a wet season there would be leeches lying in wait. We were advised to wear thick socks and to tuck long pants into them if we were to follow the trails. We followed the trail to see one of the waterfalls but 15 minutes into the walk I’d had enough of flicking leeches off us I headed back. When my partner returned he’d had leeches weave into his boots and have good feeding session on his feet. We did not get to see a cassowary but listening to the tranquil sounds throughout the day and night were just fascinating and enjoyable. The tree house had great amenities. The washing machine allowed us to wash most of our dirty laundry. It was really nice to shut off from social media and mobiles for a...
Read moreOur stay at Rose Gums Wilderness Retreat was unforgettable. Nestled in the heart of the rainforest, it felt like we’d stepped into another world.
Each morning started with the most magical experience: watching colourful Rainbow Lorikeets at the 8am wildlife viewing near reception. We even spotted musky rat-kangaroos and TWO Cassowarys!
Back at our treehouse, we enjoyed our breakfast hamper on the deck, sipping coffee with panoramic views over the forest canopy. The hamper was generous and full of local touches.
The treehouse was beautifully designed and fully self-contained, with a kitchen, bath overlooking the trees, fireplace, and a big comfy bed. It was the perfect balance of comfort and connection to the outdoors.
We spent our days exploring waterfalls, rainforest trails, and spotting wildlife around the property. In the evenings, we curled up by the fire or soaked in the spa bath.
Rose Gums is the kind of place that stays with you. It’s calming, soulful, and incredibly special. We’re already...
