Please, DO NOT pay attention at the 1 star reviews left recently. It has nothing to do with staff being rude, let alone prejudice against different races and cultures! It's shocking to see how they are not being honest with their reviews and not really telling what happened. They got in trouble for simply not wanting to follow clear rules set by the camp staff, which was being followed by everyone, except for them. Camp Elim is a free ALCOHOL AND SMOKE camp. You're not allow to drink and smoke on the camping site and this is a condition you're made aware at the moment of booking, there are also signs everywhere in the camp reminding people about this. These people clearly didn't their job reading about the camp and were drinking and smoking from the moment they arrived as I was able to witness myself. Staff warned them about the rules and instead of simply following it they started being loud and abusive, disrespecting not only the staff but also the other guests who were following the rules with no issues. Guests are also asked to be quiet from 9:30pm until 8am, a very welcomed rule for all the families camping here with young kids who sleep early. It happens this is a perfect spot for families as the lake is extremely safe for little ones, with the no alcohol and smoke rules making it even more perfect for families just wanting to spend some good and relaxing family time. In all my interactions with staff, they were nice and courteous. So if you're wanting to party, drink and be loud, this is not the place for you and instead of abusing staff and refusing to follow the rules imposed to everyone, leave and go somewhere else. I'd like to leave here my thank you to all the staff for creating such a wonderful place for families. I felt in love with it and will...
Read moreI recently ran a kids camp at Camp Elim for a Not for profit organisation and all I can say is wow ! What an amazing weekend we had. The staff Deb, Brayden, Bailey and Rodney went out of their way to ensure that we all enjoyed our weekend.
The meals were the best I’ve ever had on a camp (not one complaint from any of the kids - which I’ve never seen before). The accomodation was great and allowed the perfect number of kids and leaders in each cabin. The activities on offer were perfect and suitable for a mix of age groups. The water front was suitable for the younger kids too, with the depth being around waist height for little kids (no sudden drop offs).
Deb and Brayden were very helpful and accomodating in the kitchen, preparing and cooking us amazing meals on time ensuring that we kept on schedule with our program.
Bailey and Rodney ran the activities which were the high tower, giant swing and water activities. They were both very friendly to the kids and gave clear and concise safety briefs on each activity which made it easy for the kids to understand and follow. All the equipment was safe and helmets and harnesses were easily adjustable to fit all shapes and sizes.
We were also able to use their hall to set up arts and crafts, run a movie night and end of camp presentation using their installed projector which was easy to setup and practical.
Honestly I cannot speak highly enough of this place. I will definitely taking my family here. The no alcohol policy is an extra bonus, allowing families to spend time together without any hassles.
Thankyou camp Elim,...
Read moreA very exquisite camp located across from a beautiful coastal beach but right on the foreshore of a scenic sandy lake.
The amenities here are great with the family units containing split system AC, a small kitchen (including a fridge, a microwave, a gas cook top and a good selection of cookware and crockery), shower, toilet and laundry (communal laundries can be found throughout the camp). Driers and a vending machine containing snack food are available but both for a fee. A basketball court and table tennis tables are also available at no charge. The adventure tower (featuring a large climbing rockwall) and the giant swing are available for large groups. Pushbikes, kayaks, canoes and other watercraft are available to hire for $10 per person per hours the hire includes life jackets if required. The town is located approximately 10 minutes drive away with coles, woolworths, kmart and aldi in the same complex.
The downsides are very minimal. the lakes edge was covered by thick seaweed and the shoreline can be very boggy. We also suffered a short black out (at no fault of the camp) while here and it was very dark so bringing a torch would be a good...
