Castlereagh Motor Inn — Hotel in Gilgandra

We’ve been coming to this stop ever since we’ve discovered it on our overnight from Melbourne to Queensland. It’s the best bang for buck with firm clean beds, easy late night check ins and early check outs, and quick access from the highway. It’s surprisingly quiet even though the main road is right there and the view from the window isn’t too bad! Green grass and trees with many birds waddling around.

They’ve been slowly renovating the rooms I think cos the gray carpets have been replaced with wood like floors. A huuuuge improvement that makes the place feel clean. The bathrooms are functional and straight to the point, no fussing around with great shower pressure too.

They also give you free waters and the fridge is super effective and cold, perfect for quick chilling drinks.

Overall, Julie and staff have been great to us, and the guests appear to be great too - parking is safe and no one’s car has ever been broken into...

Awful stay. We stayed there last night and our daughter was moved from of their room due to mice infestation into another mouse infested room. We had mice in our room also, the manager advised that they pulled a snake out of our daughters first room on Tuesday, clearly chasing the mice. The owner called my daughter after my wife put up a low scoring review outlining what had occurred. Our daughter received a phone call from the owners only to be verbally abused and cursed, the fowl language was disgusting and she wouldn’t allow my daughter or wife to get a word in edgewise. Pretty reasonable, quiet location with lots of native birds around on the trees, clean place, a little away from the town but not a big deal, staff wise average when greeting, could be better, a nice size TV available but no internet connection; at the arrival was given a small bottle of milk which was dispensed from the original packaging so wasn’t able to tell the expiry date, type of milk or trust the contents!, so would be more hygienic and trustworthy to be given a small sealed long life milk, during the night, we could get only couple of hours sleep as there was a few mosquitos around who took a good care of us annoyingly.  Managed to find inspect spray middle of the night in the cupboard to give back their...
