We had two nights (Thursday and Friday) in Campania Casa in mid-March. Based on our first day, I would have given a poor or average rating but our second day showed us that a much better rating could be achieved. It all depends on who else is staying at the site.||The property is in a lovely peaceful and quiet setting overlooking farms with horses and a dam with ducks. The buildings are very modern and attractive and it is obvious that no expense has been spared on the decor.||Campania Casa (where we stayed) is a 2-bedroom house which is attached (unfortunately) to three 1-bedroom attached rooms with small decks. These are "separated" from each other only by sculpted metal barriers which provide no privacy whatsoever. The decks overlook the pool and across to farmland but also look into each other. The deck of the Casa is large with seating for 4.||The casa itself is well set up with 2 bathrooms, heaps of closet space and a king-size bed in each bedroom. The kitchen/living room is quite large and includes an 8-seater dining table and couch seating for 6 plus an Eames chair. This leads on to a TV room/library which has so many chairs and tables that it's a little cluttered. All rooms have TVs and are air conditioned. A sliding glass door opens from the TV room to a loggia which has a dining table with 8 chairs and other seating as well as an enormous built-in BBQ and a pizza oven. Outside, at the rear of the loggia, is an attractive vine-covered metal structure with an 8-seater dining table. As described in the guest compendium, the loggia is a "communal area". ||The whole complex is ideally suited to a group of 8-10 family members or friends where privacy is not an issue. We concluded that it would be perfect for a small wedding but the compendium points out that weddings are not permitted on the property.||When we arrived at the property on the Thursday, we had a great swim in the heated pool and it seemed like we had the whole property to ourselves. However, a little later, two women arrived at Room 1 (closest to the Casa) and one of them spent the next couple of hours making loud business calls on her mobile while both of them smoked heavily out on their deck. The only way to escape this was to retreat inside and close all doors and windows. Needless to say, the other 4 guests did the same.||At this stage, we had the impression that the loggia was for the sole use of the Casa guests. This was because the loggia is accessed via the deck of the Casa (and the stairs leading up to it) and by walking past the Casa's front door. Also, whilst every room in the Casa is furnished by heavy block-out curtains, the TV room's sliding glass door has no curtains so that anyone using the loggia looks straight into that room and down the corridor to the rest of the house (thereby rendering the TV room virtually unusable for Casa guests when others are in the loggia). Admittedly, the loggia can also be accessed by other guests via the rear garden but that is rather impractical so, logically, they would (and did) use the Casa deck for access, including peering in through our front door.||This is becoming a bit of a rant but, it's worth pointing out that, when the other guests all left for dinner arrangements on the Thursday night, we saw just how good the property could be. It was idyllic. Total peace and quiet and very comfortable.||Next morning, the smokers were well into it on their deck very early but, fortunately, they checked out by 10am as did our deck explorers and, with the quiet couple remaining in their room for the rest of the day, we virtually had the place to ourselves for the remainder of our stay. Wonderful. Returning from lunch at Long John Pickles at Fish Creek (a recommendation from Moo's at Menniyan the previous day), we had another great swim and spent a lovely, peaceful afternoon out on our now private deck followed by a pleasant evening in the TV room. We finished our stay with a very peaceful pre-checkout morning on our deck followed by a wonderful lunch at Tomo's at Inverloch on the Saturday.||Conclusion - the Casa is well worth the splurge rather than the much smaller other rooms but you'd want fingers crossed that there won't be any other guests staying at the complex or that those that are staying also have a lot of respect for...
Read moreMy wife and I booked Campania of Meeniyan as our base for riding “The Great Southern Rail Trail” over a couple of days. We booked unit 4 for 3 nights from May 6th to 9th. Allison, our host owner communicated with us over the couple of months prior to our visit to address our questions about access to the bike trail, Wi-Fi access and an early arrival so we could off load our gear and ride out from the property day one. The weather on our arrival was dismal with freezing temps and very wet and windy conditions. Thus we decided to postpone our start on the GSRT and opted to stay in and spend the day reading and accessing our internet tablets. The weather was so bad it completely disrupted the Wi-Fi in unit 4 and after communicating with Allison to try to improve it she very generously offered us the Casa , two bed room house, which was not booked and had really reliable Wi-Fi. While unit 4 was super clean and very well appointed the “Casa” was outstanding. My wife, an avid Magpie supporter, loved the black and white decor. The house has every luxury amenity you could ask for and the pillow top king beds made for blissful sleep. The views out from our bedroom of the sweeping farms with cows and horses was lovely to wake up to and while it was way to cold to use the pool or the outdoor bbq area we had the added bonus of the library theatre room where we accessed the internet TV to chrome cast Kayo for the Footy. |Meeniyan is a great Rural township with every possible food and amenity outlet you would need for a lovely stay. We managed to ride the GSRT to both Fish Creek for a fabulous Seniors Fish and Chip dinner, ( most delicious beer battered fish we have eaten) at the pub. Then the next day rode to Koonwarra where we discovered, to our great delight, Milly and Romeo’s cakes and coffee to boost our energy for the ride back. Our only concern would be that you will need to take your bikes into Meeniyan on the car as the gravel road up to Campania is steep, winding and busy with fast...
Read moreLuxury accommodation around this area of Gippsland is hard to find - plenty of retro roadside motels but nothing luxury. I was so happy (and relieved) when I found Campania of Meeniyan ! It’s managed by Getaway Property Management, and everything is handled remotely, including an access pin code. The accommodation is located a short 5 min drive from the main area of town, and it consists of a house (Casa) and 4 attached individual rooms (motel style). We stayed in room 1. Rooms are beautifully furnished and appointed. The bed is absolutely huge, a super king (6.3ft wide) and is incredibly comfortable. Nice modern rain shower and toiletries. Kettle toaster bar fridge and microwave provided. Unfortunately the tea supplied is Lipton’s - thankfully I brought my own. There is a Nespresso machine with compatible “L’OR” pods provided. But unfortunately the Nespresso machine was not working so had to do without morning coffee. [And no way to leave this feedback/ report this issue] The only other real issue we had was the noise from the wooden deck around the Casa house- Room 1 is next to / attached to the deck and we had almost an hour of people clunking back and forth. My suggestion/ recommendation would be to select room 3 or 4 which are further away.
There is a nice pool but not very private as all the rooms overlook the pool. But the views from the property are lovely.
We had a really good one night stay at Campania and enjoyed visiting Meeniyan - it’s a good base to...
