Enjoyed our 6 night stay in Unit 4 of the Motel Traralgon at $105 a night in early July 2025.
Positives: Great value experience delivering all the essentials and more at an affordable price. Spacious room set up efficiently. Air conditioning on heater mode worked well for cold winter nights, and dual sided electric blankets were a welcome nice touch. Comfortable furniture and decent TV. Kettle, toaster, mini fridge and microwave were all sufficient to get away with some light cooking. Remarkably low traffic noise: even with trucks driving past on the visible highway, you can barely hear it. A non-issue.
Negatives: No kitchen sink in room and cleaning service didn’t handle dishes daily. Had to clean in bathroom sink. Some small unkempt details; such as exposed wire for TV aerial cable, shower door not closing without a slam, low water pressure, blind slamming all the way shut when lowering it WiFi could be a bit patchy. They had 3 different networks but only supplied password for one. After getting all passwords, I could bounce between the strongest and then it was acceptable throughout (not great). Suggest they amalgamate all networks onto one and use more repeaters / access points. Only one powerpoint next to main desk and TV, having to choose between a charging/mini office hub or the TV itself. Not hard to include a double adapter or power board here. A little bit outdated and worn in general, but perfectly acceptable given the value proposition.
Conclusion: for somewhere that is listed and marketed as a 3-star motel, we think it does a great job at offering a value experience, with only small and achievable improvements and a little bit more care needed to bring this up to a 4+ star facility. An old tired motel that needs a major upgrade. Not recommended for anyone with mobility issues as step from car park to outside of room is huge and floors are uneven. Just home from a 5 night stay. For a start there is a block out blind but no privacy blind or sheers. So when you open the blind there is full view of everything in your room from the front of the motel. Carpets are tired and sticky, upgraded TV done on the cheap with cables draped everywhere. Lighting was inadequate in the main room. Cleanliness is questionable. There was a meat skewer on the floor in the bedroom when we arrived and it took housekeeping 3 days to remove it. Lots of dings and stains on all surfaces and mirrors. We had no room service yesterday (Monday) for our last night. There was a mass exodus of cars at 4 am, and the V8 leaving was not conducive to sleep, and our room was opposite the office, so the cars all idled outside our room to drop off keys. Also, there must be a child of the owners leaning drum, because we had about an hour of brain destroying drum patterns one afternoon. What was once a beautiful garden needs major maintenance. Beds are comfortable enough and linen clean; there’s a couch, table and chairs and a microwave, kettle, toaster, tea and coffee provisions as you’d expect.
