This is an incredible beach. Again, to rough for swimming when we were there. Camp grounds are good. The wife and I have laughed at people giving low ratings to people who complain about sand flies / insects, but we were made the fool. On dusk we (the whole campsite too) got swarmed by sandflies. Like bad enough to have to move sites, clean out van and have a very irritated sleep. So take the fly spray and insect repellent for a nicer time cause the camp spot of beautiful. Also, we payed $9 more an hour down the road and got showers, electricity and free wifi... so the price is abit steal of a patch of grass.

Johanna Beach is a very beautiful place. The beach is clean and the surf is excellent. Due to the rips, it is not recommended for children or the inexperienced. However, the river is a great place to play. The rock shelfs are an excellent place to explore at low tide too. We were disappointed that the camp ground was packed with people camping and many without paying and in spots that are not camp areas. The toilets are run down and messy and one door slammed all night in the wind. For the money, I expected more. A fantastic place to visit for the day!

Amazing beach, very beautiful scenery, you can see the where the jungle meets the ocean and it’s outstanding, the current is strong and you should be careful, it’s dog friendly (on leash only) and it’s like a private beach. It’s worth the 10-15 min drive from the main road. Definitely suggest it

We stayed at Johanna over Easter and our site was well grassed and the scenery very spectacular although as others have said the beach is very rough and not suitable for swimming. While our 21ft caravan fitted onto site 15 we were concerned that sites 16 and 17 were also listed as suitable for caravans however site 16 is behind 17 and beside 15 making access impossible. Given that we and some other campers had paid $31.50 for a site with only basic facilities while others set up on the unmarked grassy areas and camped for free you should expect that booking and paying would entitle you to a decent size site with proper access. Do not book site 16 you cannot get onto it if 15 and 17 are set up, site 16 should not exist. In other states national park camping fees vary depending on facilities $31.50 is expensive without showers or...

Strong currents and rips at the beach so we do not recommend swimming. 25 numbered sites which must be pre-booked online through the Parks Victoria website or by calling Parks Victoria. They cost around $29.30 per night. Plenty of protection from wind to be found behind shrub rows. No trees for shade. Clean drop toilet facilities with toilet paper provided. Toilet doors will bang all night during high winds. Water from the small tank is used for washing hands only. No fires permitted. No rubbish bins. No fresh water. Mobile reception available on both Telstra and Optus. Short walk to the beach and viewing platform. Lots of bush tucker can be found in the area. Approximately 20kms from the glow worms at...
