Rivergardens Holiday Park — Hotel in Gol Gol

We have been to this park on a number of occasions over nearly 20 years, we have always found the on site staff helpful and friendly, and the location great. However after checking the park website and selecting an executive River view cabin from the photos shown we elected to book for three nights. We paid the non refundable fee of some $515.80 and looked forward to our stay. To say we were surprised when after paying the non refundable charge, we received a text message telling us there were remedial works underway on site after the floods and an apology for any inconvenience. We arrived to find that the River view cabin we were expecting was not still there and we were given an older cabin with a view of the river through the support beams for the new elevated units being fitted. Damage caused by the floods of course has to be repaired, but given the time since the flooding, I would have expected there to be some mention of the disruptions on their website, giving fair warning to talk to someone before paying the non refundable fees. Our first day was fairly quiet and enjoyable, our second day began with a telephone call at 8am to ask us to move our car from our parking space in front of the cabin so a crane could set up to lift the next elevated cabins into place, so our already reduced view of the River was now non existent replaced by a noisy crane and work people, we went out for the day. When we returned the works had stopped but the crane was still parked in front of the cabin, the following morning we were woken by a vehicle with the radio blaring parking beside the cabin at 630am, more workers arrived and whilst they were pleasant people and just going about their work it did nothing for our morning, we left soon after. The main issue here is I believe at best there was poor communication and/or information available to us about the change in cabin type and location before we paid the non refundable fees, at worst, this has to be broadening on fraudulent misrepresentation of what we were paying for, when obviously whomever is in charge new full well that the cabin we thought we had booked did not exist and that there was ongoing construction on site right along the riverfront. Is this why the fee was non refundable? I do not know but will not be going back to an accommodation provider that clearly puts sales...

We booked one of the Deluxe Elevated Rivertfront Cabins for 2 nights for our family of 6 (2 adults and 4 young children), and we have to say these are the best cabins we have ever stayed in. They were extremely clean and tidy, modern, had ducted air con, stainless steel BBQ plus much more. The beds were very comfortable and the linen was clean and new (not the older well used stuff you typically get at most other parks). The park itself is very family friendly and safe and in a nice quiet location. The particular cabin we booked was very private and overlooked the river. We travel to Mildura each month and will be staying here from now on as opposed to our usual Air BnB. Very impressed and felt this location was a hidden gem as it wasn't overly busy considering it was school holidays and a long weekend. The cabins we stayed in would be great if you were wanting to visit and stay with other family or friends as they are right next to each other. We just came back from our Mildura trip for the kids’ school holidays and also visited our relatives. We stayed at Rivergardens Holiday Park for the first time, and it was a great experience. We stayed in Superior Cabin #10 and loved it. The cabin was clean and better than we expected. It was neat, with no unpleasant smell when we first entered, unlike some other places we’ve stayed at or heard about. The staff were very friendly and fun to talk to. The whole check-in and check-out process was effortless and seamless. Our family enjoyed it very much. It’s right on the Murray River, so it’s a great location for fishing enthusiasts looking for a place to fish & stay. Their shared outdoor BBQ facilities are super clean and new.
