Poorinda — Hotel in Gold Coast City

1 star is an understatement which is based entirely on the service and lack of communication regarding our stay.

Usually I do not like to leave negative reviews, but I am extremely disappointed with the lack of consideration from the host and being left out of pocket upwards of $550.

Myself and my partner booked the "Luxury king suite" listed as an "Entire house" on a "quiet property" through Airbnb for our 2-night anniversary weekend.

It looked like a nice quiet getaway with great views and use of all the amenities one would expect when paying upwards of $270 per night with the possibility of the owners living on site.

After a 90-minute drive we arrived to be greeted by a party of guests drinking by the pool playing music and smoking.

The host failed to mention that she was hosting what looked like a buck’s party in the villa next door (which we were unaware of). The villa next door can sleep up to 10 people, which again we were unaware of at the time. Upon reading reviews buried in the advertisement we soon realized we were not the only couple who had encountered this issue.

The advertisement for the king suit as an "entire house" is misleading and portrays a listing offering a quiet private place. Instead we felt confined to our small room as we did not book a private escape to be surrounded by random drunk people!

This is not what you expect when booking a "quiet" weekend away with full access to amenities. This is the expectation I would have if I were to book a hostel for $50 a night.

Not long after our arrival we packed our things and departed; we then cancelled the booking through Airbnb. Now at this point I would expect a cancellation fee for the misunderstanding, but that was not to be.

We captured pictures of the room and left as is, but the host flat out refused a refund. So, after a 3-hour round trip and $550 my partner and I are clearly disheartened and have left this review in hopes no one else plans a romantic "private" getaway through this host and are left...

Avoid at All Costs – Unsafe, Unethical, and Disgraceful Customer Service

I cannot stress this enough— do not stay here unless you enjoy being ignored, overcharged, and put in dangerous situations. What should have been a relaxing getaway quickly turned into a nightmare due to sheer negligence and the owner’s shameless greed.

Serious Safety Hazards Ignored – Guests were electrocuted due to exposed live wires, and when the power failed—leaving us without lights or air conditioning on a 40-degree day —the owner’s response was "turn everything off, there’s nothing I can do." This level of disregard for basic safety is appalling.

Zero Accountability & Lack of Service – Instead of offering solutions, the owner either ignored concerns or became confrontational. Not a single effort was made to remedy the electrical faults, nor was there any apology for the life-threatening risks posed by their negligence.

Hidden Charges & Greedy Policies – Expect to be nickel-and-dimed for things that should be included in the stay. Want to use the BBQ? Extra charge. Use the fire pit? Extra charge—even if you collect your own wood. Oh, and if you dare put your bags in the wrong room, you’ll be hit with another fee post-stay.

Disrespectful & Aggressive Behaviour – Instead of addressing issues professionally, the owner resorted to yelling at guests and making absurd claims about noise complaints from “12 neighbours” when there’s only one house nearby.

No Response About Lost Property – If you leave anything behind, forget about getting a response. Given the level of dishonesty, it wouldn't surprise me if lost items were simply taken.

Between the electrocution risk, lack of air conditioning, non-existent customer service, and exploitative hidden fees, this place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Save yourself the stress and stay literally...

We arrived with a very excited air of anticipation, travelling up from NSW to enjoy the beautiful subtropical for a long weekend.

Initially the house felt beautiful, and the view and pool were showstoppers….

Until the wheels fell off… we contacted Kerri Lea because the lights in the main house would not work, and then none of the air conditioners… The temperatures in the rooms must of reached at least 35 degrees and some Of us had to resort to sleeping on the floor or on couches to escape the oppressive heat…

Things only deteriorated the next day, when one of our guests went to find a power point to charge his phone next to his bed and got seriously electrocuted by live exposed wires sticking out of the wall. We advised Kerri Lea of all of these issues and her response was 1 - nothing can be done about lights 2 - try turning the airconditjoners off and on and see if they work (which they did not) 3 - no response or acknowledgement regarding our friend almost dying (LUCKILY HE WAS NOT ONE OF OF CHILDREN)

She further berated me over putting my bags into the main bedroom which apparently wasn’t part of our stay, which I only stumbled on trying to find a pool scope to clean to leaves out of the pool. And thought I could stay there since I slept on the ground the night prior due to the oppressive heat. She begrudgingly agreed to allow me to use it but now is trying to charge for its use post stay.

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU VALUE THE LIFE OF YOUR CHILDREN AND OR WANT TO PAY FOR WHAT YOU...
