Best Western Ascot Lodge Motor Inn — Hotel in Goondiwindi

The room was clean and good amenities. The restaurant however had a bit to be desired on the quiet Saturday night I was in. after ordering a bottle of wine everything seemed well. I ordered a M/R sirloin. When it arrived I had doubts about it being M/R. Once I cut it in the middle it was clear it was well done perhaps Medium Well at best. After bro gig not to the attention to the manager she took me and my plate to a different part of ten restaurant with different light and said “see there is some pink”. Perhaps it was a little pinker (hence the message/well comment). An argument was about to start so I took the plate back to the table not wanting to cause a stir. I attempted to eat it but it was too tough. After a couple of bites I asked for the bill and left. There was no acknowledgment of the issue or apology. $40 dollars for a steak is not cheap even in larger cities.

Great staff, mostly international and super friendly. I think the receptionist was Gee and our wait person Caroline who was from London. They made the stay enjoyable. We dined in the restaurant and meal was OK. Room was small and tired but very clean. The air-conditioning needed to be used all night as it was hot outside and there's no natural airflow in the rooms. The aircon was extremely noisy. The kitchenette is basic. No microwave. Moccona instant coffee only, which will be acceptable for some people. Good bathroom with a big walk in shower and simple amenities . You can park your car right outside your door which is handy for unloading etc. Overall fine for an...

Room was great, Restaurant was good (Window waterfall brilliant), overall presentation of Motel was very good BUT on check-in, and after swiping the card the Receptionist took our card and wrote the details of the card on a piece of paper despite our objections. When confronted on "why" she said that her boss had informed her that she had to do this for all card transactions. In my opinion this would be deemed as "illegal" as this is the first step for anyone to commence illegal activities and credit card theft. We don't even have our card numbers or details written down. We have been watching our account everyday but wont be going back to this particular Motel...
