Ever in search of some good walks and a moderately priced bed for the night, the Moonambel Hotel looked like a good bet. Stuart the publican made me feel very welcome.||When I inquired about a meal, although it was a Monday and typically pretty quiet, he offered to have meal prepared for me by his staff, which I greatly appreciated.||Just a short walk from the pub is the Redbank conservation reserve. In no time I was tackling a 250 odd metre incline through gnarly, box forest. This eventually became a ridge line with glorious views in all directions. With the aid of a hand held GPS, I was a able to navigate a 16km loop through stunning, elevated country. (I wouldn't advise tackling this country without one, or suitable maps). He rushed around sorting out one of the new rooms (which I think is not usually rented out) and had us sorted out after a couple of drinks in the bar when we arrived. Our motorcycles were put away for the night in a safe place which is always a plus. We sat down to a hearty meal and friendly banter until it was time for bed. Our price also included a cooked breakfast in the morning and real coffee. I would certainly recommend Moonambel Hotel to anyone who is...

The room was quiet, good heater and an electric blanket. I was up for a very early start, and my delicious vegetarian breakfast was waiting for me. I was given great advice on the best route to take to continue...
