The score is a mix of 5 stars for stunning location and campsite, and negative 5 star for the amenities. The campground is beautiful, large sites, shaded, and very well protected from the south westerly winds which is a bonus for tent camping.

But the amenities are a different story. ONE FRIDGE for the whole campground, not an industrial size one but the same size fridge we all have at home (and probably 20yo by the look of it). ONE freezer the size of one of those hotel room's minibars. cmon there was literally no room for food at all, and nowadays a medium size chest freezer costs less then a grand. All shopping bags were squeezed and every time we had to get ours out we needed to remove 3 or 4 bags otherwise the whole thing would collapse. I understand 12v fridges are common in Australia but not every vehicle is equipped with one. 3 sinks and 4 burners outdoor only, only 2 hotplate bbq for the whole thing when every public park in Perth has at least 4+. Always had to wait ages for cooking/washing. Then the toilet/shower block. The dirtiest we have ever seen in a caravan park. All in all beautiful spot with great potential but only if you have a caravan or if you eat tin food.

EDIT AFTER OWNERS REPLY The comparison with parks in the metro area is just an example, even if the park is in a remote location installing an extra pair (as a minimum) of hotplate bbqs is not asking for the impossible. The caravan park is not small at all, one kitchen block and 2 bbq seems rather insufficient to me. In terms of 1 star review affecting the business, i believe Hamelin Bay is a well known and very popular location and tourists will visit and stay at your park regardless. I am sorry to have given a 1 star reviews, but that is what we felt our experience was due to poor amenities. Hoping to see improved and renovated facilities one day ,...

This is my third trip back to the Hamelin Bay Caravan Park.I dont usually like to stay at parks in the caravan but rather be off grid and away from other campers but I make an exception here. The caravan park is set in lovely treed areas with plenty of room between you and your neighbours.Plenty of birdlife and a short stroll to the beach. The beach is the highlight with the Stingrays being there all year round and eager and curious to say hello.Beaches are clean and you can fish as well. The grounds are kept clean and there is a small shop where you can buy any necessities that you may have run out of and a morning coffee which is super important to some. There are chalets or campgrounds and they offer powered or non powered sites. The staff at reception are top notch and always so friendly and ready to give you ideas of what to do in the area. They will even borrow you extention cords for the power if yours doesnt reach.Showers are kept very clean and the water pressure and temperature is top notch and one of the best I have used.||Now just for the small negatives that take off this place being 5 star.NO FRESH WATER.You need to be self contained in that regard but you are forwarned before you arrive. We still boiled the bore water and used it in teas etc but it did not taste good.Internet.THERE IS NONE.Thats neither a negative or a positive because it makes you do other things than sit on a phone.Slight reception near the shop and the beach and you often spot the reception areas with the people with their phones.||The cabins at the front beach look like they would be awesome with views all the way to the beach.Thankyou staff at Hamelin Bay for making our stay another memorable one.We...

Family of 3 Travelled from San Remo to Yallingup caves in the peak season to camp with our youngest child, 14yrs. Her ideal stay was Hamlen bay but this had been booked out for several months in advance. To our dismay we had been double booked! Everywhere including free camping was chocka block! We just happened to follow the wrong road leading directly to Hamlen Bay camping grounds. Hubby suggested to take a look inside while he hoped for a miracle. After about 5 mins I returned to the Ute and suprised them both that infact they had one spare site left! I don't know what happened but these lovely ladies saved us. They were so gracious and kind. They warned us of the noise and over crowding etc due to its location but we took it as a blessing. We stayed there for 4 wonderful nights. It was magical for our teenager. The youngest of 6 she got mum and dad to herself and had the time of her life. Sting rays, Fishing, shell collecting, simple cooking and lots of card games. Even though we camped in our very basic tent ensemble in between the "Taj mahal" and The Rinehearts lol we enjoyed our stay immensely! Showers were hot and strong 24/7. Hamlen bay you rock! Very...

We stayed in a tent for a couple of nights. The kitchen is well equipped. 3 x 2 plate gas burners - 1 of the burners has been out of order for months. 3 Basins to wash dishes- be quick though as the plugs do leak water. Area is clean and well maintained. Toaster, kettle, microwave and big dubble door fridge. Laundry: 2 washers an a dryer. Coin operated. Toilets are cleaned regularly - hot showers available. Even the hand soap and toilet paper are filled up. The camp area is well maintained. Power and un powered sites available. Some of the camp sites are not numbered and difficult to find. You do get a map at reception thought. Kids can play in the jungle gym, cycle, plenty to do for them. No cellphone reception in the camping area- which I personaly prefer. A weak signal can be found at the look out point. Roads are well maintained. At $42 pp sharing its on power with the area and other sites close by.

Location wise one of the most beautiful of all caravan parks with direct access to the picturesque Hamelin Bay/ Beach. Also, the sites are quite big and mostly feature fire pits. While the above all sounds great, it‘s still only 3 stars due to the really old and not clean facilities (both bathrooms and kitchens). We travelled quite a bit along the West Coast and the facilities here rank bottom end... also, the park itself is poorly maintained compared to all others we stayed at. At many parks you always saw someone looking after things, here in 2 days not once. It‘s 5 stars for the location and sites but 1 star for the facilities and poor maintenance. Could be the best of all, if that changed...

We spent a wet winters 3 night weekend down a Hamelin Bay Holiday Park as a short getaway to recharge from nearby Busselton, we found lots to do walking the trails and along the beach plus nearby wineries and restaurants. The ladies at the reception were very welcoming, helpful and friendly which made our stay even more relaxing. This is always a very popular beach with the friendly stingrays, fishing and swimming or just beach walking and relaxing. Pays to book well ahead to get a cabin of your choice especially if you want a room with a view of the ocean. Include it in your Google saved maps as a place you want to visit. I personally can highly recommend it for a great holiday.
