We had a rejuvenating 3 night stay in the rustic cottage. Following a friendly welcome chat with Frances we enjoyed the peace and quiet (no mobile, no internet) for the next couple of days. This is a great place to stop, read books, wander the dry river beds, sit by the campfire and enjoy a wine whilst watching the beautiful sunsets and stargazing at night. If you are staying in the winter months(we were there early July) rug up. All rooms are accessed via external doors with no heating in the bathroom or kitchen. The open fireplace in the sitting room was not that effective. However the bedroom was warm with a very comfortable bed and extra blankets. The kitchen is a delightful sun trap as is the porch- great for soaking in the winter sun. Staying at Holowiliena station was a fantastic start to our Flinders Rangers trip. Can't wait to visit again.

Our 3 night stay in The Cottage was delightful and without the phone and Internet coverage, it gave us a much needed escape from our busy city routines and allowed us to reconnect with each other. The highlight however was a tour of the buildings hosted by Frances. Her knowledge of the station and it's history is amazing. It's so fortunate that Frances and Luke have such a great sense of history and are taking the preservation and restoration of Holowiliena to the another level and building on what Frances' parents Richard and Jan had started. We absolutely loved this place and wish Frances and Luke every success. Definitely recommend!

The most amazing 3 nights The entire stay was brilliant Thank you, Frances and Luke, for the privilege of staying on your fabulous property.we loved everything about our stay. You have thought of everything. Marshmallows for roasting over the fire to apples straight off the tree. Such a comfortable bed with beautiful linen. We will be returning in the near future for sure. Your story is inspirational, and your ability to diversify so you can live your dream is a commendable and heart-warming The history tour is a must do as is seeing Luke in the blacksmith shed. Thank you Allison & Rob

Holowiliena Station was a highlight of our visit to the Flinders Ranges. We stayed two nights in the Cottage and it was perfect. The Cottage is rustic, spotlessly clean, and welcoming, with everything we needed for a very comfortable, relaxed and peaceful stay. The warmth of the fireplaces (in the lounge room and outdoors) combined with the bush setting, birdlife, and night skies was simply beautiful. Frances, Luke and family are so welcoming. Their friendliness and genuine passion for Holowiliena is infectious.

The Station Tour is not to be missed. Frances and Luke’s heart and soul is in Holowiliena and they have preserved and restored the Stations history using traditional building methods and materials. The amazing collection of historical artifacts (shown and explained by Frances during the tour) is outstanding. We learnt so much.

Luke’s skill and creativity in the Blacksmiths forge was another highlight and we feel privileged to have been able to purchase some of his work.

We cannot recommend Holowiliena Station highly enough.

We hope that when we visit next time that much needed heavy ongoing rain has fallen, the pastures are green, and sheep are happily grazing.

Thank you for sharing your history, stories, beautiful home cooking, and your station with us.

This is a beautiful place and one of the best stays we ever have experienced. The cottage has its own view of magnificent red gums and quandongs and is separate from the homestead complex. The tour was fascinating from a historical perspective. The home produce option included beautiful freshly baked bread, cake and biscuits. We took advantage of some great walking opportunities and cooking on the campfire. Frances, Luke, Todd and Stella were welcoming. It was a privilege to watch the school of the air in operation and take up the option to join the family for a hearty meal. The cottage is at core an historic 2 room stone cottage, with more recent bathroom and kitchen additions. It was quirky in that each room opens onto the verandah, which means a few steps in the fresh air between rooms. Above all, the immersion into the Australian bush was wonderful. Thank you Frances and Luke for providing such...

We thoroughly enjoyed Holowiliena Station. The drive to the station once we left the bitumen was even a good part of our stay with kangaroos jumping by and emus prancing gracefully along in front of us. Received a very warm welcome and a cup of tea when we arrived and had a informed chat. The accommodation very comfortable as was the bed. The kitchen is country-ish with a large fridge. We were there in winter and the heater in the kitchen was warming first thing in the morning. We walked around the station most days and had a bon fire every night. Did one of the four wheel drive tracks, it was slightly challenging and the scenery is fantastic. On the drive we stopped in a dry creek bed among the gum trees and had a picnic lunch. The stay was peaceful and quiet, we were in a world of our own, exactly what we wanted. Looking forward to going back soon. Going to send some...
