Great campsite overall. Fire pits were nice, with plenty of space for pitching tents tarps, parking caravans or going on picnics. Amazing location, next to the Rubicon River and some trails. Had some shelter for some picnic tables. There were quite a few bathrooms around the campsite so that was good, but they were low quality. Lots of paths to find firewood or to make your way down to the river for a fish or a swim. I went with friends and it was a great setting to pitch up a volleyball net, play some other sports such as soccer, AFL or Rugby as well as games such as Tag or Spikeball. Overall, not much more to say outside of the fact that I would definately return if the...

This place was bit dusty during my stay in March. Very busy during long weekends.

This place was very easy to find. No drinking water. River is walking distance or stone throw away. Good place to cool your self down.

Good walk on the rocks for kids & adults.

Some campers should be bit more respectful for other campers, by not ignoring your dog barking constantly day & night . Some campers was very selfish by hogging two camp spots for one small family.

No shop close by, closest one was food works in Alexandra 20 - 30 minuets drive

Be aware of...

Lots of birds around, the river is lovely and the area are mostly sectioned off. The grounds were very well kept, but the drop toilets were disgusting and had not been cleaned for a while. I did speak to a Ranger and ask if they could be cleaned after I cleaned to seats of both toilets myself. Unfortunately we all sat and watched them pull out the hose reel and pretend to clean them. Having a look after they had gone, the toilets had not been cleaned....

Relatively easy drive from Melbourne - approx 2.15 hrs from the CBD. This Free campsite is dog friendly, has fire pits and is close to the Rubicon river which is a pleasant waterway. The Campsite also has plenty of toilets. The sites are separated by wooden fences. Family friendly. Other camping spots are available along Rubicon Road.

Massive campground, toilets are 50/50 depending on the crowd. Extremely busy on long weekends and holidays, almost at capacity most weekends. Back spots are close to swimming hole but spots are close and can be really noisy. Spots at front on grass are big and open, much quieter but less shade. Good weekends close to Melbourne.
