What an excellent camp spot. The Camp is 15 huge hard gravel/sand sites. Some have a few trees for shade, and some don't. We had a few trees which was lovely. 2 flushing toilets are super clean, fully stocked with toilet paper and cleaned daily. You can see provisions for a shower in the future, which would be fantastic but nit essential.
Nice and peaceful, quiet and just off the highway. All sites were full but you couldn't hear your neighbours which was great, love the space. Strict rules around cleaning up after your dogs which is excellent. Strict rules about having a fire off the ground, which is completely understandable with farming properties near by, again also great. Well thought out rules and regulations which are mostly common sense but some people need a reminder. Would definitely come back here and stay again. May even look into the new family accommodation that was being finished off near The Silos, they look amazing.
Location is excellent, only a few short minutes into town (1.5km) and only a short hop skip and a jump to Wave Rock, Wave Rock Dam, Hippos Yawn and a little bit further Mulka's Cave and The Humps. Wave Rock Cafe has great coffee, lively food and it is a hidden decorators dream ( look up). Lots of effort has gone into decorating and actually looks incredible.
A lot of the farming country towns have put in so much effort to restore, rebuild and look amazing for people to travel to. I was pleasantly surprised by many that we stopped at. Good coffee and heaps of little hidden gems like second hand shops to look at. Go support your country town with the family and make some memories with roads trips. You won't be...
Read moreThe Camp has really exvellent big sites. Lots of space between caravans and campers. Not cramped like those sites in the resort close by. Potable water and flushing toilets make for a more comfortable bush experience. Hey who cares there is no power for your air conditioner. The evening breeze is just as lovely. Beautiful sunrise and sunset Slept like babies. Do babies sleep well? Well we did. Noises from native animals provided us with evening entertainment. And guess whst? They even obeyed Chloe's request for "quiet time at 10PM". Such darlings. Either this or we were dead to the world and tuned off. We slept like babies. Do babies sleep welll? Well we did. An excellent camp site. At $20 per night for 2 people, a big caravan, a just as big towing vehicle and room to spare. Honestly, another caravan and towing vehicle can be parked alongside ours in site 6. .THE CAMP is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Well done Chloe and team. We aporecuate your efforts in kerping the site and...
Read moreWave Rock short stay was perfect for us for the one night. The toilets and our site were clean and perfect. Can see the sunset and sunrise as well which makes it great. The vibe in the park was perfect as well. Although, we had a dog running around our camp that had pooped infront of our van and stunk our van out for hours. The owners of the dog were not in site. Not the owners of the park fault, but the people saying there. Perhaps having a camp manager check the park more frequently to enforce these rules.
The only downside was finding the location. It doesn’t match the directions that Apple or Google maps give you. For anyone reading, it’s about 1km from Hyden itself. The turnoff is at the big Hyden sign and it’s about 1km from the wave...
