A beautiful, rustic resort at Lake Magic (and Lake Magic salt bath/swimming pond). Wave rock resort ('Vave' as missing half a W on the sign 🤣) is 1-2 kms from Wave Rock Caravan Park. This is the office you checkin at and pickup your key from. Cottages are a decent size with a full kitchen, dining, lounge, huge bathroom and 2 bedrooms. The master also has an additional single bed. Cottage slept 6. We booked one night in January @ $185. Clean, tidy and plenty of space. Outside the cottage (unsure, but around 10 cottages?) area has communal covered gazebos with BBQ and seating, beautifully decorated with dragon flies. At the back of the grounds is a community amphitheatre. To get into the grounds (opposite wave rock, next door to tourist bureau) you need your electronic key pass which lifts the boom gate. We had a caravan on the back as just a one night stopover to cut the journey in half. Easily able to park closeby to our cottage and keep the van hooked up. Lake Magic apparently can change colour throughout the year, but it was your standard bluey-brown Lake colour for us. A clean looking Lake that you could easily walk around (I saw an early morning jogger round there). The lake itself is surrounded by salt flats which were dry and walkable. Advisable not to drive on the sand around the lake as $500 to get rescued! Beautiful stay with friendly staff at the caravan park. The highlight would be Lake Magic salt bath (swimming pond) which you Have to experience the...
Read moreWe arrived at the Rock there were a few people but not to bad. We were impressed as we only had to walk 100 meters from the car park on a flat foot path before we saw it. It was impressive we loved it. We took the standed surfing shoots and a few selfies as we admired the amazing formation. There were walking tracks up onto the top and round Lake Magic... we drove.Well worth the trip. We picked up our key Wave Rock Resort (sounded impressive) As we entered the Resort up the long driveway you are confronted by the desolate landscape it almost looks like a bomb has been dropped. All the dead trees on salt like plains were so ugly and amazing. The is a large natural spa on the property which they seem to be developing (to cold for this time of year) but there were some idiots floating around in there. The salt content is so high in there that it is like the Dead Sea you can’t sink. Number 14 lake view two bed cabin It was dated but clean comfortable and well equipped. It also had a bbq area with table and chairs fully fly wired (to keep all the pests out) over looking the lake. We met the neighbours and we grabbed our bottle and went to the sand for the sunset. To much cloud but...
Read moreHad trouble with the website so rang and had a great conversation with the representative so booked a resort lodge apartment. Arriving the next day was like a parallel universe. Staff were dismissive, there was this air of assumed knowledge about the park, facilities etc. and perfunctory service. Here's your keys, a map, a pass to the carpark and have a nice day.|The cottage was big but if you like things to be clean and actually work this fails. Fully equipped kitchen was a bit of a stretch with no pot big enough to boil pasta, electric frypan didn't work, utensils and glasses had to be rewashed and the lounge had a very dodgy stickiness to it. All the cupboards were delaminated and had that swollen ill fitting age about them.|Moving onto the bathroom with the plastic mouldy shower curtain and fittings spinning on the wall made for a further dud impression.|Perhaps that's why the lighting was so poor.|Overall one of those joints that don't have to try at all too hard because the mug tourist keep coming to...
