A week after Christmas we trying to book this camping ground but it's failed many time. We thought that coz of Victoria govt announced free camping, so doesn't taking a booking. Then we decided drive go in person .The camping ground surrounded with tall tree not really big area .. when we arrived pretty much full only 3 side left Then we decided to camp one of them .. after not that long, a lady from the next side told us that the side she already book few day for her friend but who's doesn't turned up ... she said she book 3 side. One side is where asian family already build tent . Second is next to Asian family which is two lady already build tent as well .. As we know anywhere.. when you book a place.. even tho a free when you don't turn up on that day, then no any longer belong to the person. The lady keep telling us without knowing / or wasn't sure if her friends coming either. Then the very nice Asian man and his partner came to us , and asking are we gonna build a tent there.. coz the lady before telling them that also already she book. Then after we leaving with disappointment and ruin our mood . Asian family keen to go with us .we taking them go to water gauge camping park in Murrindindi. Beautiful long camp side with a lot of space . We camp a week in black wood and a week in water gauge .

Note: please beautiful people with beautiful heart if you book a place for free .When somebody doesn't turn up.. please let some else take it.. other people deserve to enjoy as well as you...

It’s a beautiful location and only an hour and a half away from city! The tall gum trees surround the campgrounds. There’s a creek flowing and we could hear the sound from the campground which was lovely. However, our campsite was left with used toilet papers and leftover food 🙁 Also there were three long drop toilets, one of which was vandalised and had a broken sit. The other two didn’t have any toilet paper and had rubbish lying around. The area below the tank that held rainwater was flooding because the drainage was blocked by leaves and other rubbish. But it may have been because it was raining quite heavily throughout the day. I wish people using the area would care for it a bit more… But still we really enjoyed our stay and the walks were lovely and the creek was filled with water and beautiful! We saw so many different birds in the morning. We booked through Parks Victoria website and it was $15 for...

A very peaceful place to stay, wasn't too packed when we were there most likely due to the recent fire north of the campground (had been contained by the time we got there). Three drop loos, could see how facilities could get overwhelmed if campsite fully booked. Recommend BYO loo roll in case. Also two BBQs but one wasn't working when we went. Sites for both tents, campervans and caravans. Must book and pay for sites. We turned up and people were camped in our site, even though we paid and booked. They shuffled on and ended up setting up their camp in the day visit parking area! Clearly hadn't booked or paid. Small fee to help maintain the space. Small price to pay for the privilege so do the right thing. Short 4+km walk directly from the camp site to the next picnic ground or continue on for a much longer 18km return walk to wombalano falls. ...

As a full-blooded, hardaussie battler who enjoys time in nature after hard time on the work tools (laptop, Microsoft teams, keep cup), I enjoyed setting up stumps at the Gums Campground. I appreciated the luxury of the Gum's established firepit, camp table and flattened ground. although, I thought I was going to have to battle (yes, battle) a kangaroo to enter the bathrooms but thankfully, Skippy (it's not racist to kangaroos to assume that name because he had a name tag on (it's not sexist to assume his gender because the name tag included Skippy's preferred he/him pronouns)) decided to step (hop) aside to let me use the throne. Enjoyed it thanks Parks Vic 👍
