I've spent time in the Hunter Valley a number of times over many years and it would be difficult to think of a more picturesque and perfect location. The Lakehouse itself is extremely well equipped, comfortable and stylishly appointed. The sound of birdsong and the movements of birdlife on and around the pond, watching the kangaroos going about their gentle existence, soaking up the colours of sunset, dusk and dawn from the decks and windows, listening to the rain on the roof as the storms roll through, magical views in every direction, the fragrance of the surrounding roses and gardenias all add to the experience. It's only the amazing food and wine on offer in every direction that creates any temptation to move. The Lakehouse hosts are incredibly generous and helpful. There was a minor and unavoidable inconvenience impacting my friends and I during our stay and the hosts went above and beyond to compensate. I'm always conflicted about writing glowing reviews because if people pay attention then next time I want to visit I'm increasing the competition!
