Birds Heaven Mareeba — Hotel in Mareeba

I recently had the opportunity to stay in the lovely Eucalyptus Guest House at Birds Heaven, and it was just what I needed. After returning to Australia from a trip home to Canada for my niece’s funeral, I was desperately seeking a few peaceful days in the countryside. Each morning, I was greeted with breathtaking sunrises, and I would sip my morning coffee while watching air balloons ascend into cotton candy skies. On the first morning, I went on a beautiful early morning hike at Emerald Creek before the crowds arrived, and on the second day, a friend joined me for an afternoon swim there. To my delight, a rare bird had been spotted within a five-minute drive of the accommodation, so I also had the chance to indulge in some birding (although I didn’t manage to spot the elusive Chinese Pond Heron, I thoroughly enjoyed the search). Oh, and I’ll never get enough of the super sweet and cuddly miniature donkeys.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Birds Heaven Mareeba, and it was an unforgettable experience! The rooms were not only luxurious but also beautifully designed to complement the stunning views of the Atherton Tablelands. Waking up to such a serene backdrop every morning was a real treat.

Our host, Larry, was exceptionally welcoming and full of great local tips. He pointed us towards Emerald Creek Falls, a nearby waterfall with incredible swimming spots, which became one of the highlights of our visit. His recommendations truly enhanced our stay.

The fun continued back at Birds Heaven Mareeba, where we cuddled with the miniature farm animals—a delightful touch for animal lovers. We capped off our amazing day with ice-cold drinks on the deck, which offered a panoramic view of the pool and the lush landscape of the Tablelands.

Our little family has been renting a house on Bird's Heaven Mareeba property for over 6 months now because we are absolutely LOVING our stay here; its privacy, peaceful atmosphere and closeness to nature is what we sought for. Every corner of the property, inside and out, is pretty cosy and lovely to us. Waking up with the many birds in the morning that we don't know all the names of yet 😆, finding some fruits on the trees while going for a walk, enjoying the stunning sunsets looking different every evening, hearing and seeing the animals on the property fool around and have fun is so lovely, especially the baby goat 😍 Larry & Effie are such special people who always seem to take very good care of the guests, animal residents and property including their stunning bnbs.
