Marla Travellers This petrol station was a stop quick heading north just to fill the tank and so glad I did as Christmas morning the next petrol station was closed (The Ghan) So at the Marla station I got a full tank + a 20lt Gerry container full which pushed me all the way to Uluru, On the home bound trip I stop past the Marla Travellers again for fuel but this time I grad a feed, while taking to the staff I mentioned I needed a shower! Well for a small price of $4 dollars you can used there facilities even if your not staying in any of the rooms which at night I didn't know they had rooms but I do now! Prefect I would say as I sipped in for a shower after a great feed and yes the food was delicious and the serving was quite big! The staff on Christmas eve was just 1 bloke working very friendly fellow and 7 days later heading home again the staff were extremely friendly helpful in the petrol station and wonderful staff in the restaurant/eateries Toilet facilities available here and very tiny... For a place in the middle of nowhere the service is 10 times better than the city I live in Canberra well done to all at the Marla Travellers Rest! I can comment on the accommodation as I didn't stay here.

If you’re heading along the Stuart Highway and need a no-fuss stopover, Marla Traveller’s Rest delivers exactly what it promises: convenience, comfort, and outback charm. It’s a one-stop hub in the middle of nowhere—fuel, food, accommodation, and supplies, all in one place. The roadhouse staff are friendly and helpful, especially considering the remote location. The motel-style rooms are basic but clean, with air conditioning that’s very welcome after a day in the desert. There’s also a caravan park and camping area if you’re traveling on wheels. The on-site restaurant serves hearty meals at fair prices, and the coffee isn’t bad for the outback. There’s a small grocery and liquor store, plus a mechanical workshop—great peace of mind for long-haul drivers. It’s not luxury, but it’s a reliable and well-maintained rest point in a harsh environment. Ideal for travelers making the long journey between Coober Pedy and Alice Springs.

Marla Travellers' Rest Visited on 6/6/2021, 16/6/2019 Marla is a service town 1,082km from Adelaide and 159km south of the Northern Territory border. Marla is an aboriginal word for kangaroo. It is a service town visited twice a weekly, The Ghan, and has a normal population of 70. Marla Travellers' Rest has a roadhouse, hotel/motel, restaurant, service station, and supermarket. Many road trains stop here for fuel and the drivers to have a break or a meal. A road train is a trucking vehicle consists of two or more trailers or semi-trailers hauled by a prime mover. My travelling group did not stop here for a toilet break, and a quick bite before proceeding to the South Australia / Northern Territory boarder. On our return trip, I had a pie. It was so good, that recommended my travel buddies to try, and so they did. They gave it a thumb-up.

Had breakfast here as passing through. Had the hangover sandwich for $9, bit sad even for a remote area meal, bacon, cheese, sauce and potato scallop. Could of done with an egg to hit the BEC trifecta for that price, was nice an greasy as it sloshed around my abdomen for the next two hours. So ticked the box for hangovers. But for $9 could be done better.

Son had the made sausage roll, cack! Don't bother, get one out of plastic bag from the baine marie if you can.

Daughter had the potato scallops, they were as expected as she is no epicurean.

Otherwise place was fairly clean and tidy, some plates not yet collected on tables. Toilets were as expected for what it is.

Having travelled a bit for work up Cape York, Cape leveque, Kimberley, alice and NT community areas, important to get the toasties spot on at 9-10am, was bit of a let down too see no ready to go BEC toasties in a roadhouse/servo on a highway in the sin bin with cheese kabanas and pies, dim sums etc.

I rate it 2.5 stars, its doable as it's the only thing in hundreds of K's but could be done...
