Besides the friendly owners and access to the lake, there is nothing nice about this place. There was a group of us, on a powered caravan site and camp spot. The amount of run down permanent caravans on site, makes the place look like trailer trash park. We arrived on new years day. It was very hot day, power was in and out, was told by the so called electrician on site that we arent allowed to use our power (paid for a powered caravan site) if the power was to come back on. Constantly being questioned if we were using power every time it had turned off. If im paying for a powered site, im going to be using the power when it's on, especially for my 2 young kids. Did not feel comfortable at all. The bins were over flowing once cleared they weren't brought back so no where to put rubbish. There was also limited hot water in shower block. This place has so much potential but like I read on another review and now being there myself, the new owners have inherited the permanent residence and suss looking people, which just wrecks the vibe to what could be an amazing location if they were to clean up the place. I personally wouldn't stay...
Read moreWhat a wonderful place to relax and recharge! A lovely caravan/camping park in a rustic rural setting a minutes walk from the shores of Lake Wellington. Great clean amenities including camp kitchen, barbecue area, sparkling pool with shade and a tennis court.
The lovely young couple managing the Roseneath Caravan Park were friendly and welcoming and were happy to show us a couple of the amazing "Glamping tents" - some of them with outdoor bathtubs on the tent decking to "soak in" the relaxing bush atmosphere. Other staff members were friendly and helpful with ideas on things to do and see and ensured we enjoyed sharing a magnificent camp fire and company at night.
We stayed in one of the cabins - it was clean and airy and included kitchen, bathroom, sitting area (both indoors and outdoors) and could sleep up to 5 people.
The views of the lake from the lookout and on the shore were breath taking. We also enjoyed nature walks and watching a couple on their stand up Paddle Boards.
Highly recommend - we plan to...
Read moreWe loved our stay at Roseneath! Grant, the new owner is a lovely person (as are all of his staff) and a most generous host. He's worked hard to bring the property up to a high standard for an off the beaten path caravan park. The grounds are a wonderful mix of cultured lawns with swimming pool, and banksia bushland, bordering the gorgeous Lake Wellington. Our dog had as much of a great time as we did! We stayed in one of the cabins which was clean and comfortable. We're looking forward to camping by the lake next time. Grant very graciously lent us one of the park's golf buggies for the duration of our stay as one of our party was unable to get around much. All up, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay! A couple of responses to other posts - we heard very few dogs barking, and no shouting at all except from one remote camper who apologised for her barking dog :) And I would not have called the sand black by any stretch but it is definitely lake-side rather than beach-side sand and very typical...
