There are few places left around the world that are remote and untouched by man. I hope one day to see a lot of them before they all disappear and they are very quickly. My friends and I stayed at Kimberley Coastal Camp for a week run by Julie and Tubbs. My friends like fishing and I love nature. The remoteness was breathtaking. There is know one else around. Not for hundreds of kilometers. The Camps position on the water is beautiful and sitting around a camp fire just above the beach every night with a cold drink is a memory I will not soon forget. The fishing was unbelievable. Other fishing adventures we have been on required lengthy boat trips out to reefs long ways from shore but at the Kimberley, we fished as close as 5 minutes away. Because the fishing is near beaches or up rivers, the views just seemed to get more and more breath taking and no sea sickness because land was always in site. Most days, we headed back to camp around lunch time with just the right amount of fish or Mud Crab to feed us that day. We released more fish than I could count. Grins all round when fishing. Never had better fishing and doubt I will again. A small hike from camp through lovely Australian Bush, is the best Aboriginal Rock Art I have ever seen. You could get up close and look at painting done over 50000 years ago that look like they could have been done last year. On the way, we past a few creaks that Tubbs said fill up with rain and are great to swim in. Julie pointed out all the edible bush plants and fruits. The rooms are I think, what you would call Glamping. They have a nice king size bed, lights, a down fan to keep a bit cool and power to charge the Ipad and camera. Was not expecting them to be as nice as they were. All the rooms had a great view of the water. The kitchen/dining/lounge area is amazing. Very comfortable and always a happy spot to meet up, have a drink, a great meal and a laugh. I spent many hours on the lounge reading a book with a drink in hand. Julie turned our daily catches into beautiful meals. I thought that with all the freshly caught fish and fresh salads, I would have lost weight. Alas, I put on a kilo. I teared up when we said good bye to Julie and Tubbs. So did a few of the other guys. You just can’t believe or understand what it’s like till you have been there. Getting there is hard, but...
Read moreIt really is a once in a lifetime experience to visit this place, although perhaps not as KCC will keep you coming back for more. Tub and Jules are the most wonderful hosts that one could ever ask for, and the staff working closely with them are exemplary.
The fishing at KCC is nothing short of extraordinary, and the guides will stop at no ends to make sure you get stuck into the best of Kimberley fishing. Whether you're after creek fishing, blue water pelagic hunting, or a relaxing day collecting mud crabs, this place has something for everyone.
The food served up for breakfast, lunch and dinner is incredible, Kylie and Jules make up an incredible duo in the kitchen, churning out some of the best food I've ever eaten.
Perhaps the best thing about KCC is the inviting atmosphere created by all of the staff at the camp, it really does feel like you're a part of the family throughout the entirety of your stay.
To Tub, Jules, Kylie, Kev, Tom and the rest of the team, thanks for the most incredible week in recent memory. The only negative of a stay at KCC is that you'll inevitably return home to the mundanity of normal life wishing you...
Read moreMy wife and I have experienced a number of " High End" resorts in Australia but KCC beats them all. It is owned and run by the highly competent and engaging duo of Jules and Tub ( assisted by a handful of friendly and experienced staff) who make it their business to ensure you have a memorable holiday.||The location is isolated, exquisite and fun to get to. While there is a fishing focus ( trolling and or bait fishing....your choice) you can also enjoy visits to see 35,000 year old aboriginal rock art and a G and T in the pool in the afternoon while you contemplate eating the mud crabs and barramundi caught earlier in the day. ||My wife is a moderately keen fisher person and a keen watercolourist.||No problem said Tub. We will compromise. On several occasions we took her in the morning to one of the beautiful nearby islands, " marooned" her for a few hours while she painted and we fished , then went back with a laden esky to join her for lunch and a glass or two on the white sand of a deserted island. Doing all this under a clear sky in 30 deg heat is a joy in itself.||WE WILL...
