Widespread sites, good surrounds, family friendly, well connected. 4x4 is not compulsory to have to get here but the approach road is a forest road on stones and loose gravel. Can be frustrating to drive for luxury urban cars and limits you to go slow unless you are fine to drive fast on the loose gravel rough roads. Therefore best to go in a thick wheels 4x4 SUV. Camping area is the highest in the area so good cool weather is always welcoming here. No riverside near the camps but small polblue creek and swamp walk is not too far to spend sometime on. The Firs picnic area is very interesting to have a feel of being in an Alaskan forest of tall conifers but it's very small patch that was purposefully planted but good that it's there. Drop toilets were in good condition at the campground, No problems there. Overall a time well spent here.

Due to COVID-19 all campers must pre-book sites via NPWS. Ranger will check daily that your vehicle is registered to camp. Daily visits by the friendly ranger also means the toilets and bbq are clean. Ample camp sites scattered around, so no feeling of crowding. A good base for 4WDing nearby trails. Unfortunately most were closed when we visited due to recent rain. Leisurely walk around the Polblue Swamp (peat bog) with evidence of recent visits by feral horse, pigs and dogs. We only encountered birdlife and couple of brush-tailed possums. Lots of insects, so come prepared. No drinking water and limited firewood. Not a lot for kids to do, but if you like peace and quiet and no mobile service, it's perfect!

Awesome camping spot, spent a weekend there with friends, the weather was soggy, but the clean, and well kept camp sites made it a really enjoyable stay. Plenty of spots, on a spacious clearing, with an awesome "Community Hut" with a stone fireplace, large picnic bench, and 2 gas bbq's. 2 sets of toilet blocks, with 2 long drop toilets each. Just note, you do have to book ahead, and I hear it can get busy. We had only one other group the first night (Friday) and then more 'outdoor enthusiasts' the second night (Saturday), but it made for a nice environment in the shared hut were we could exchange camping stories, and experiences. I would definitely recommend this camp site.
