My partner and I recently spent 4 gloriously relaxing nights at Brooklyn Farm. Arriving a little late at 8pm, we were greeted at the gate by one of our hosts Rob who pointed us in the direction of the house where his wife Heather would meet us to show us around. Rounding the corner the driveway opened to the bend of a creek lined with giant gums lit from beneath with floodlights, a simple but dramatic touch that set the scene for what I knew would be an amazing break. When Heather arrived I had already whipped around the house inspecting every nook and cranny. She pointed out a basket of eggs laid on the farm, a fridge with all the fixings for a delicious breakfast, bacon, mushrooms, butter and tomatoes. There's a nespresso machine and local milk, a pantry filled with the essentials as well as home made conserves, tomato sauce, worstershire and Heathers honey. In the study you'll find a vast selection of books and toys for the kids.|The most special element of the house is the attention to detail in the fittings and furnishings. The bedrooms are appointed with soft, luxurious linens, restored antique daybeds and wardrobes and thoughtful touches like candles and tissues. The living room has a huge flat screen TV with a selection of DVDs including 'The boys are back' the film for which the house was originally built. A great film and a thrill to experience while you're drinking tea from a mug which touched Clive Owens' lips! The bathroom features a large tub and Heather has chosen a selection of stunning products including Lush bath bombs which lulled me to sleep each evening.|Waking in the morning to the soft sunlight evokes a sense of living in a dream. Rob delivers fresh bread for breakfast at 8am and leaves it in a little breadbox at the front door. We picked fresh herbs from the garden and spent all day in the massive kitchen cooking beautiful meals to enjoy on the verandah. Even though the house is just 100m from the main homestead it felt incredibly private and isolated, such a rare quality these days.|Thank you to Heather and Rob for creating this little treasure. We'll be...
Read moreThis was our second stay at Brooklyn Farm & it won't be the last!||There's always the danger of having such a fabulous holiday that when you decide to go back again (the next year), it's not quite as good as you remembered, or it's started to get a little 'tired' looking..... NOT THE CASE HERE!||Heather had asked what our arrival time would be so she could make some afternoon tea and when I mentioned it to our kids, they were just as excited as I was ..... warm scones with cream & jam, what's not to like:)||The house is even better than the photos on the website - the rooms all big and are so beautifully decorated... it's homely, it's inviting and it's stylish. ||Rob & Heather are fantastic hosts - they pop over to say hello and check you are okay, but give you space too. ||My kids love waiting for Rob to deliver the fresh warm bread delivered each morning & then heading out to explore nearby while we make breakfast.||And if all of the above isn't enough, there is the location and the view! I have spent quite a bit of time during our stays sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee/wine in hand just amazed at the butterflies and the birds.||This is a fabulous place for couples but it is fantastic for families too - our kids love the freedom, the exploring, the adventure of it all! It's a holiday for slow starts in the morning, exploring on a walk along the cliffs to Myponga Beach and then coming back to a yummy dinner and a good red.||We have brought the grandparents down for a night, and had friends (with their kids) visit for the afternoon and all have loved it.||My only problem is that it's so good, I worry Rob & Heather's secret...
