After a little searching for a family friendly cottage in the area, we selected Chestnut Glade and their Lucenti cottage.||Comfortably accommodating 2 adults and 2 kids, we found the cottage to be spacious and well furnished, without being luxurious or over the top.||||The setting is extremely quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Nestled between rows of chestnut trees (albeit bare at the time of our visit) the location is only a few hundred metres from the main road but you wouldn't know it. The property is frequented by wallabies, kookaburras and ducks adding to the country feel.||||What I loved about this place was how well stocked the cottage is on arrival. ||The fireplace was set with kindling and papers, ready to be lit and had a massive pile of logs in storage next to it ready for use. (although I did buy some more kindling during our stay)||The fridge and cupboards were jam packed with breakfast provisions:||A giant bowl of fresh eggs, milk, juice, bread, bacon, yoghurt, butter, mushrooms and tomatoes. The cupboard had a range of preserves and cereal. ||Plenty of food to provide breakfast feast for all three mornings.||||The location is ideal for touring the are in all directions.||10 mins from Marysville||20 mins from Healesville (gateway to the yarra valley gourmet region)||20 mins from Buxton (trout farm)||||Contact from the owners is pretty much non-existent so you are left to your own devices to enjoy the stay in peace. The other cottage is about 100m away, but far enough not to be a bother.||||All in all I highly recommend this cottage for a family stay...
Read moreWe stayed in Nanking cottage (cottages are named after varieties of chestnut trees) which has a Japanese themed decor - using authentic furniture, wall hangings, paintings, Japanese garden and curios - a real delight in itself. The cottage is situated distant from the other cottages, quite separate, so no disturbances. ||||The provisions for breakfast were excellent and plentiful - cereals, milk, yogurt, eggs, bacon, bread, butter, jam, juices, sauce and more... all you could need. We had cooked breakfasts and used the BBQ as well. There is no standard cook-top but we managed easily with the electric fry-pan and microwave. The owners, Rachel and Frank were friendly and helpful and flexible with times. We stayed in late March and the chestnuts were starting to fall - if you want to get some remember to bring secateurs and thick leather gloves - the fruit is too hard to handle otherwise.||||Wi-Fi and TV with Netflix worked perfectly. Our phones on Telstra worked well but other carriers may be a problem.||||Quite simply this was one of the nicest cottage style accommodations we have ever stayed in - we look forward to visiting again in winter to enjoy the cooler seasons and to use...
