We booked 4 cabins at Rainbow Pines Tourist Park for 4 families from 2 July to 5 July. We booked these through Booking.com, around 5 months back. We had arranged leave from work, house sitting, booked our dogs into care, purchased snow gear and our children were looking forward to our time away in the snow. ||||Exactly 2 weeks before we were due to check in, Kerry from Rainbow Pines called us to let us know that our booking will have to be cancelled as residents from the area were still being accommodated at the park due to the fires in the area last year. Whilst we do empathise and understand these residents have no place to go, we are very disappointed and frustrated that we were only informed about this 2 weeks prior to check in. Surely Rainbow Pines would have known about this way before, and they should have had a disclaimer stating this might happen, at the time of booking. The way this was handled has been very unprofessional, it has caused a lot of distress, and since we were only told 2 weeks before, we have not been able to find alternate accommodation either which means the kids will miss out on snow this year. ||||We will never book a stay at Rainbow Pines ever again since we know we might be left with no accommodation, and if you expect your accommodation provider to be reliable and professional, DO NOT book at Rainbow Pines. ||||Sanjeewa...

Well travel in The Pandemic can be interesting. This place has been one of my favourites for years ,but visitors may need to be aware of a few things . On check-in I was warned that I was lucky the woman's husband wasn't checking me in ,because he didn't want to allow Queenslanders. " We've had a lot of problems with Queenslanders." " Campers ?" No , it turned out . Her husband's mother was ill and they'd had difficulties will obtaining a border pass. Having been trying, unsuccessfully to get home since August, I could sympathise ; until I was asked to provide 4 months of accomodation receipts. Failing that , I needed to provide my ferry ticket from Tasmania from 4 months before, my Victorian Entry Pass and my NSW entry pass. Topped of, my credit card details ,to be entered and saved on her computer. All standard ,I was assured " to keep people safe". I must admit , I was in tears at the end of it all , not so much from frustration at the interminable information extraction ,but more at being shut down by the palm at any attempts at normal conversation along the way. Nowhere else in 7 months of travel has requested anything more than regular Covid check-in...

The amenities are very good, great showers. Stayed in my van and extended my stay on 3 occasions. The owners knew i was waiting for surgery date. Said no problems. The last extension was till Saturday, which I thought and was told. Went to extend again on the Friday. To be told they have booked someone on my site, so would have to move. Well that's not that easy with a broken back. Then told I was meant to leave the day before, and lost reservation because of it. I decided just to pack up and leave. I was warned prior to arriving at the park. Hence every conversation was recorded. I showed my van neighbours the Audio. Even though I never raised my voice and called Kerry Mamm. Once I questioned her about only just extending till the Saturday. I was accused of speaking to her badly. I can see why cabin owners are looking forward to them leaving shortly. I have never meet an owner that does not know the size of the sites. And never seen so many rules in a Park. You are not allowed to do anything. I will return to Park once new...

Where to start…the lake is spectacular the dust bowl not so much. We had an en-suite site but was probably the worst en-suite we’ve encountered thus far, was cleanish but the clean looks like it was done some time back as cobwebs everywhere, had to clean the toilet before using it and, after a couple of flushes, a frog appeared in the bowl, still don’t know where it came from? Couldn’t work out the light in the en-suite, took numerous attempts (5mins) to get it to work on day one and then gave up on day two. The German Wasps also made things interesting as soon as you cracked a beer or brought food outside.

I had a great experience booking with Polly – she was incredibly helpful in accommodating our request for a 1-day stay, even though the website mentioned a 2-day minimum. We reserved two tent spots, which were more than spacious enough for our group of 8 adults, 1 child, and a dog. The amenities were well-maintained and conveniently located, with power sockets and water readily available at the tent spots. The location was perfect, offering breathtaking sunrise views and a chance to enjoy fishing at the dam lake, where the water was beautifully crystal-clear.

We looked around other parks nearby for our 3 month stay on powered site but the manager Polly was just so friendly and welcoming we knew this was the right place. Polly will go out of her way to make sure visitors are comfortable. The amenities are very pleasant, modern and clean. The views are breathtaking. Very peaceful, friendly and welcoming community of permenant residents, very well maintained throughout. Great walking tracks, heaps of wildlife and perfect if you love to fish.
