Large campsites, nice amenities, spacious area, kid friendly. Yambas Big 4 Saltwater is a very family orientated park. If you are after a relaxing place to stay with your family then this is the place to be.
What's good: A lot of things, the amenities close to the entrance are ample and clean. The showers are long, great for those showering with small children and some contain toilets.
The campsites are large, they offer lots of room for our car and our tent and we saw many vans with enough room as well.
The camp kitchens are useful and they even put easy use dishwashing liquid there. The laundry facilities offer large machines that you can pay via many methods. Bring pegs as there are clothes lines right outside the laundry area.
The kids loved the jumping pillow so much and there are some tire swings under some trees.
We saw kangaroos and even a possum. So cute little furry friends.
The water play area is great and fenced so you can watch your kids easily it is wonderful. We loved the outdoor cinema too.
What could be improved: The pool was freezing, I made the mistake of getting in with the kids lol it was too cold to use. Heating the pool would be wonderful moving forward. That is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. Otherwise I would have in a heartbeat.
The site was a bit sandy, so we have sand on lots of things lol but it keeps the experience authentic. Not all grass sites were sandy. We loved the fact we could have a fire weather permitting so don't forget the marshmallows.
An extra amenities block near sites 73 to 76 would be incredible.
Bear in mind if you do get a riverside site you will have to walk quite a way to access the showers and other facilities however big 4 have provided port a loo's which help heaps and they are the cleanest port a loo's I have ever seen in my life.
These small changes would be great but would not stop me returning to the park in the future. A good park is still a good park. I have nothing bad to say about this park at all. The changes would be minor. This park is EPIC.
Kerry from reception was lovely as well as all the reception staff.
I love the space and we felt so safe staying there. I can tell the owners care about the park and their customers, I could feel it when I was there. I think its good to give your money to kind people, this felt like a kind place to stay. They sell coffee too and a small assortment of things at reception.
I am glad i chose it over the other parks on offer as though others may have some flashy amenities, those will get full of tourists during peak season and offer smaller site sizes. You really can't put a price on having room to move and relax. Sometimes you need to get back to nature, I felt safe and comfortable at Big 4 Saltwater, away from the hustle and bustle of other parks on main roads.
I would recommend this park especially for families. I would stay again and we loved it. Thank you for the extra care. Thank you to the lovely reception team. We appreciate you all. A great park, an authentic experience.
Don't worry that it is not in town, everything you need is a short drive away so please don't let that deter you from choosing this park. It made no difference and best of all no road noise.
Thanks from our little family to yours, keep up...

But this doesn’t only affect the disabled. Parents with strollers/prams and the aged are all denied easy access to toilets/showers. On the subject of amenities, whose idea was it NOT to include hand drying equipment. This is an unbelievable oversight. It’s great that the amenities have sensor lights but the kitchen should have these as well. Global warming is real and it’s not helped by having lights on ALL night needlessly. The idea that you can take advantage of public holidays in both NSW & Qld is at best immoral. This park is in NSW and that’s the only public holidays for which you should be increasing prices. Personally we think the idea of increasing prices for these periods stinks anyway. There’s no difference in the facilities offered, public holidays, school holidays or neither. We’ve been here for over two months & the range hood in the kitchen has not worked for the entire period. Also, the burners on the stove are all but non adjustable and aside from plates there’s absolutely no kitchen utensils. For a while, tea towels were supplied but that’s only done on an ad hoc basis. It’s the same with dishwashing detergent. We wonder why you bother having the weather forecast on display. It’s updated somewhat haphazardly. It’s not unusual that we have to go to the office to get this done. The map given to new arrivals is all but useless. There’s no indication where the new amenities/laundry building is, nor does it point out where the clothes lines are. We’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve had to point these out to bewildered people where these are. We’ve been told on good authority that the work next to the kitchen is for the provision of a dog wash. How you could you possibly think that putting a dog wash next to a KITCHEN would be Ok? Just think about trying to enjoy a meal with the smell of unclean or wet dogs wafting through the air. Has this been given the go ahead by health authorities? And instead of repairing the amenities & laundry you decide to put in a dog wash. It’s nice to know that dogs come before people. The power supply is not up to scratch. It seems that you can’t have more than one appliance going and if you try the...
Read moreWe found that even though the weather was terrible for most of the week which is not the parks fault but for a big 4 unless you like swimming in the rain which the new pool was fantastic there was no games room or activities room in the park so for children it was very limited and should be not rated as a big 4 yet. The jumping balloon was out of action for a day or two due to the pump being broken so that was also an issue. So, unless you could afford several peddle car hires that was all they could offer in the rain for everyone. There was a water issue within the park for the whole week we were there (not the parks fault as apparently a broken pipe down the road) so the shower and washing machine was a trickle so our clothes were half washed and cost $7 to use and then another $7 to use the dyers, but they tried their best to truck in water but wasn't enough to help. The manager was great and kept us informed and was understanding about our dog being confined and playing ball in our area on the road in front of our van, she was off the lead occasionally as we couldn't use the dog run down the road as there was limited access to it in the weather and was not maintained because the bank was being dug up looking for the water leak in the pipes. One of our family members hired a cabin which was ok but no BBQ on the veranda so again you had to walk to the camp kitchen to have a BBQ in the rain. The camp kitchen was clean and tidy but the oven was very slow as was the BBQ so cooking took a long time and we noticed a lot of people saying the same thing. So, for now, the park has a long way to go to be excellent for an out of town caravan park for families but is ok for just a couple who don't need extra activities, otherwise it's a lot of trips to town for restaurants, a simple shop, and other activities. They had a coffee machine which was a plus at least. My recommendations would be at less a putt putt track, games room, and a small restaurant would help a lot for a park so far out of town. Hope to see this park grow into something...
