We stayed 3 nights, 2 adults and two boys aged 8 & 9, in one of the cabins. We knew we weren’t going to the Sheraton and maybe some are better than others but #5 was well below par. ||The cooking facilities were very poor. One small saucepan without a lid, an old, buckled, dirty aluminium frypan and an electric frypan (the underneath of which was covered in fat). |We weren’t planning on cooking gourmet food but there wasn’t even a salad bowl!!|There was built up dirt and grime around the hot plates and sink. ||The bathroom was in very poor condition. All the cabinetry is swollen from steam/water damage and in need of replacement. ||I had the misfortune just before we left to look under the couch for a missing shoe and oh dear! It’s a long time since a vacuum or broom has been under there!!|Outside the railing around the deck is falling apart, indicative of the age and general deterioration. ||During our stay the pool was a disgrace. Green and murky on arrival on Friday afternoon, it was closed for the whole day on Saturday for much needed maintenance and reopened on Sunday. Whilst the green had gone it was far from crystal clear. The old, cracked plastic chairs were in keeping with the general lack of care and upkeep we experienced. ||Interestingly upon checkout the usual question of “did you enjoy your stay” wasn’t asked. Perhaps they’ve been trained not to for fear of the answer?||I’ve lived in Victoria all my life (I’m 60 years old) and this was my first ever visit to Phillip Island. The island is lovely but next time we will...
Read moreIt was a long weekend and we wanted to go a spontaneous camping trip in Philip island, and this was the only place that was still available to book and pet friendly. However, we were a bit disappointed by the fact of the camping site is located right next to a main road, the road was busy so it made a lot of noise. The camping site did not have a designated number/ area for each tent, which made it a guessing game for people to choose where to set up the tent, esp in long holiday, it could be difficult to even pick up a place if you arrive late. Another fact was that the price of fire pit and firewood is very expensive. It’s 30 bucks for the fire pit for one night, and another 30 bucks for the firewood. I’ve been to different campsites and big chain holiday parks. And those are around 10-15 bucks. I was shocked and tried to convince myself it might be the holiday rate… first time ever I got the idea to just invest a fire pit and bring my own in the future. Beyond that, all the facilities are good, toilet, camp kitchen etc… there is a restaurant n bar just on the site, although we did not try. It’s close to the adventurous park, walking distance, so I guess it’s more convenient for families who bring kids to relax after having fun in the playground. Staff are friendly...
Read moreWe camped for two nights in a tent. The facilities themselves were ok, camp kitchen was well stocked, games room & pool were clean enough and playground was ok. Staff were friendly. Nice that they ran a daily kids activity, although we weren’t told this at checkin and found this out from family campers. Some improvements needed. Found the grounds pretty disappointing in terms of camping. We were initially given a gravel site even though we had booked for a tent site, the second site offered when we complained was between two permanent residents cabins and was quite an ugly outlook. The third site was a little better but still disappointing with just dirt sites and not any bush surrounding it. Ladies toilet facilities didn’t lock but the men’s did so found this an issue when you wanted to go to the toilet late at night. Workers were inconsiderate, at 7am two men attending to linen in cabins, talked extremely loud with no consideration that people may still be sleeping. Was also hard to find camp site with very poor site numbers. Has the potential to be a great park with a good location to Amaze n things and the Koala park but the grounds need some loving to make it more...
