We needed a place to stay somewhere between Port Macquarie and Orange (via Walcha, on a scenic road), and an internet search came up with the Sunflower Motor Inn. TripAdvisor reviews did the rest. As soon as we drove into the motel grounds I felt that I had made the right choice, mostly due to the beautifully tended garden that showed off to its best in bright sunshine. Jules, the host, was very welcoming, and soon we could relax in (and outside) our comfortable room which had all we needed for an overnight stay (including and rare for a motel, two small bottles of mineral water in the fridge). Actually, you could stay here longer if you wanted to explore the area at leisure or just have a break from driving (and catch up on your laundry). The motel is a few minutes out of town where you can find a couple of nice country pubs for dinner. And you don’t need to worry about breakfast, as a good continental one can be provided for $10. The place is also dog-friendly and has its own two well-behaved dogs who don’t mind a bit of attention. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the Sunflower...
Read moreWe only stayed in Quirindi because Tamworth was booked out for its Country Music Festival (January 2023), but what a pleasant surprise the Sunflower Motor Inn was, starting with the welcome from Jules and Tina, including a Peroni fresh out of the fridge! They were engaged and informative hosts throughout our stay. The countryside around Quirindi is very pleasant, and the town itself is not large: the Sunflower Motor Inn itself is easy to find, with convenient access to all of the town's facilities.
Our room was well back from the road, contained everything we needed, and was very clean; I understand that they are upgrading some rooms to deluxe. Breakfast under the pergola on the lawn was a delightful way to start our day.
My wife and I can heartily recommend the Quirindi Sunflower Motor Inn, whether for an overnight when passing through, or for an extended stay for work or to explore the area.
We ate well in Quirindi, albeit we would advise visitors to familiarise themselves ahead of time with the dinnertime opening and serving hours.
Thank you,...
Read moreGreat room, with a very comfy bed, cute little kettle and toaster, right near by you have the Quirindi Federal Hotel for some amazing pub grub.
I have to say the service was very friendly and lovely, the grounds are simply spectacular at night time with the lights near the BBQ area and little lights around the garden and grass... WOW... I actually looked outside and thought there was someone sitting around a fire (but it's those amazing little lights that give the illusion of warmth and little fires)... Just amazing!
The water was hot and lovely, good pressure for cleaning up with and the air conditioner was lovely and warm.
Definitely recommend go and see Jules & Tina (and you might even get a special little visit like we did with their two beautiful dogs who came and greeted us at our door when we returned from dinner, beautiful souls those 2 are also).
Thanks again Jules & Tina and we'll see you again on our way back...
